Just watched Conan explain what happened on Friday. They showed him and Teri Hatcher doing a bit and while he was running his feet slipped from underneath him and he fell backwards landed on his back and his head hit the floor. If you missed it you should be able to watch Monday's show online. He explains it pretty well and shows a clip of him falling and his attempt to recover.

i was wondering what happened to Friday's episode, i guess a concussion explains it. doesn't seem to be suffering any ill effects, and it was very fitting that he had Drew Barrymore on who also suffered a concussion filming her rolly derby movie (and an awesome shoutout to Slap Shot as well)

I used to love Conan back in the day. Now it's just the same old jokes, the same old skits, nothing new. I thought Andy would be a breath of fresh air but he's just annoying.

Conan can't interview which was never a problem before. Now his jokes are lame and even he knows it. Watch any monologue to see him making fun of himself.

Really? I love his interviews. I think he's hilarious when interacting with other people. His monolgues do suck, but they've always sucked, so it's not like I wasn't expecting that. I'm glad they cut it way shorter than when Leno did his. I think his bits are funny too. I guess different strokes for different folks. There's no pleasing everybody.

Really? I thought Conan was at his best when interviewing Megan Fox for example.

Thanks for the clip Russic, I hadn't seen that yet. Even I cringed when his head slammed on the ground(doesn't mean I didn't watch it 10 times). On a side note, not that it matters, but with all that big, poofy trademark hair, I didn't expect to see him with that big bald spot.

Also after seeing that clip, they need to put Andy back on the couch, it just seemed right seeing him sitting there. It's almost weird having him at the podium.

To each their own, but I remember when Conan first came on so long ago, I wasn't a fan and it was because of Andy Richter. He just sits there, laughs at Conan's jokes and when he's on Camera isn't funny at all. It's awkward to me.

Conan is best when he's solo, the exchanges with Conan/The Band, Conan/The Audience, ect were golden.

I am patiently awaiting the day Andy Richter is canned from the show.

Jerry Seinfeld to replace Conan?

Quote:
With Conan O’Brien ratings slipping faster than Tiger Woods’ endorsement appeal, TV executives are telling me that informal discussions have started to occur within 30 Rock as to who would be the home-run replacement for the hysterical but sagging redhead. The name on everyone’s wish list? Jerry Seinfeld.
“NBC just can’t carry on like this. ‘The Tonight Show’ has lost 52 percent of its viewership in just one year. The November ratings will be the show’s lowest in 15 years. They would be idiots to not be having the replacement conversation,” a source tells me.

Really? But was he better or worse than Leno?

I just don't know if his humor translates to this sort of audience. He now has to deal with the "moms who find commercials funny" crowd. Some of them probably didn't even laugh at the anime or rockband bits.

Leno's lowest common denominator humor was what appealed to them.

Exactly. The crowd that watches Leno are are getting older, so they followed him to the earlier slot so they can get to bed earlier. Short of having a very specific person that can draw in a very large amount of viewers, this would have happened to anyone that took over that slot.

I can't remember how Leno/Letterman did in their early days, but I'm sure at least one of them had low ratings less than a year in to their gigs. They need to give Conan some time to build his audience. I really can't see them dropping him this quickly.

This show will continue to drop in ratings until Andy Richter is off the show. Conan as I said before is at his best when it's just Conan/The Audience/Max or Conan/Guest

The monologue was a joy to watch in the non-Richter era and now it's just ridiculously lame.

I don't think Richter is the problem.

The problem is that people that have been watching Leno for 15 years just don't like Conan. Conan will take at least 5 years IMO to build his audience. Him and Leno just don't appeal to the same market and as such a lot of Leno watchers have abandoned Conan.
