On 3.1 my battery life is terrible, phone is choppy and sluggish at times (more than before), and none of my smart playlists work properly on the phone.

Maybe I'll hold off on 3.1. My 3.0 is working fantastic. Why mess with success?

I reset it 3 times last week, before 3.1 I'd reset it maybe once a month.

I've been having a similar issue. My phone freezes with the screen locked. I can't do anything to it until I reset the thing. I don't know what causes it though.
No battery issues with me, but I charge my phone every night, and it's usually plugged into my laptop all day.

I've noticed my battery draining faster too under 3.0. However, I originally chalked it up to switching my GMail to push.

I have had a lot of problems lately with getting service (voice/data) on my iPhone (on Rogers). Areas where I had full coverage (3 bars + 3G) are intermittently giving me "Searching" or "No Service". Anyone else experiencing similar problems?

Yeah it's been brutal the past few days. I don't get the Searching... but I do get Safari can not load because server stopped responding all the time.

Well glad to hear that I'm not the only one with this problem. If you figure something out, let me know Dan.
And I also charge my phone every night so haven't noticed any battery issues.

Thank god it's not just me. I've had 3g issues for the past couple days. 3g either disappears or it just sits there mocking me.

Yup, ditto for me as well. If it doesn't improve very shortly, I'm calling Rogers to whine.

I called Rogers today - they know about the issue, consider it critical and are working on it (atleast the person didn't say to just power-down and retry)
Someone on howardsforums.com mentioned that Rogers is updating their equipment and that is what is causing the issue...

Last couple of days the 3G speeds have been brutal. I'm on Fido but I think they share most of their infrastructure with Rogers. I was wondering if it was just because I turned on push email for my GMail account (which after a couple of days is finally working). Hopefully they can sort it out quickly.

That's exactly what the pylon told me today when I called. I told him the problem is likely with their network, not my phone, and they told me there was nothing wrong on their end. Thanks Rogers.

Does push actually drain your battery more? I thought it was less because your phone isn't actively "fetching" every 15 minutes or so.

Interesting note for 3GS users out there:
http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2009/...one-3gs-units/
WiFi + Bluetooth = bad mojo for some users. This has been plaguing my app for in-app downloading of content and it's made my life misery for the past few weeks.

I've read over a few pages in this thread, and am thinking about getting a iphone now.
I'm currently with Telus, but thinking about switching over to Rogers specifically for the iphone.
The phone would cost me $199 with a 3-year term
My rate plan would cost me:
$50 + $6.95 system access + $0.50 911
That would give me:
200 daytime minutes
unlim. nights/weekends starting @ 6pm
My-10 Canada
500MB data
I would also add a $20 plan on top of that which would give me caller ID, voicemail, and unlim text.
Essentially coming to $78 a month.
Is this a good deal? The daytime minutes should be enough, is that enough data? I could upgrade data to 1gb for an additional $5, should I do this?

I have this same one, and i am planning on getting the extra 500mb for 5$. But then again, i am on CP on my phone at work almost nonstop and I stream fan 960 and watch alot of video highlights. And im still only at 85mb of usage in 2 weeks of use.

I'm thinking of buying a new iPhone and selling mine. How much is a new phone likely to cost me and what can I sell mine for?

It depends if you can upgrade or not yet. If you're eligible for and upgrade you can probably get a 3GS for a couple hundred if not less. If you're not, it will more wealth then you can imagine.
