Well...it's that time again...time to turn to the ever so clever and helpful boys of CP for advice on...oh whatever I'm mulling over at the time
I need some good ideas for upbeat workout music. I just got myself one of them portable MP3 players and am gonna fill it up with some tunes for my morning runs.
Ideas anyone?

I like using ANY upbeat music I have. The latest I've been trying is Yellowcard album. Ireally like the alubm, cam out of no wher for me too. But I usually like to use a mixture of songs on my mp3 player or I put some trance on there. I got into rave music last year because I kept falling asleep at work....works magic for me. But that' sjust me giving you some ideas.

When working out its all about 80s music. Put on a little Billy Ocean, a little Talk Talk, maybe some Pet Shop Boys, some New Order and you are good to go! The more synthesizer in the music the better!

A friend of mine listens to absolutely nothing but Trance when I'm in her car. It kinda grows on you. I mean, I don't think I could listen to it 24/7 like she does, but it deffinetly has it's moments....working out....at the clubs....first thing in the morning on my clock radio that's cranked to top volume so I'll get my ass up at 5:30.
It's sorta hit and miss when you're trying to download it though, unless you're familiar with the DJ's.
Ahh raves..I used to do that..back before it was trendy.

Can't call myself a raver, just listen to the stuff at work and whatnot. It is tough to download some stuff but if you workout from home neaqr a computer you can try www.di.fm that's pretty solid, for some downlaods of sets www.tranceaddict.com (or addicts)

Actually...I used to like rap...artists like Tupac, Eazy E, Bone Thugs.
It was never my favourite music, but I liked it. Rap's different now. I refer to it as "chump rap" and by that I mean, it's become homey G pop basically. I can't stand Nelly, Jkwan, etc and their penchant for making words up.
Although I will admit..you will probably find me out on the dancefloor at Roadhouse every time Everybody in the Club Get Tipsy comes on...
I started listening to Vibe during the playoffs to hear In Da Dome' (which cheezy as it was instilled an unexplainable cheezy pride, did it not?) and kind of got hooked on some of the music..but mostly I'll stick to my classic rock.
So glad they brought back a classic music station in Calgary..I just about cried when I turned on my radio expecting to hear CCR and was greeted by Nelly's Shake Ya Tail Feathers.

I agree. It's nice to have Q107. I couldn't put up with Cjay anymore. Finally a decent radio station in Calgary...

Me I stick to my Tupac, Snoop Dogg, Slick Rick, Biggie Smalls, Outlawz and Eazy-E (which includes NWA) and than everything else is classic rock. I can't stand any song that was made after 1999.

In addition to upbeat music, be sure to randomly mix in a few simpsons quotes, fart noises, things like that--depending on your sense of humour. But at a low enough ratio that they come up only once every fifty or so songs, so that it's a suprise whenever they do. Seriously, nothing will cheer you up more in the middle of a tough workout.

I face the same dilemma weekly-changing around the tunes on my portable mp3 player for the gym. I usually listen to a mix of rock/dance/pop/disco, anything with a fast beat-when you put the thing on "random" play, you get some weird mixes...a few days ago I went from KISS to S Club 7(I know, I know).
Some neat songs to throw in there are those Jock Jam mixes, which are really upbeat-there's a couple that have Austin Powers soundbites mixed in.
