My first and only online game so far was a 2-0 win. Flames(me) vs Pittsburgh.
It was 0-0 until about 6 minutes left in the 3rd. I took my 7th or 8th tripping penalty of the game. I thought for sure he would score on this powerplay. I ended up scoring 2 shorthanded goals 23 seconds apart. He must've been fuuuuuurious.
EDIT: and ya, the stupid guy was away yet he felt the need to choose the black 1991-92 jersey...

Has anyone else found that you have to be really, really careful with managing momentum in the game? Like when the other team is buzzing around your net late in the game, on a PP, you had better be damn sure you clear it out rather than try and carry it out of your zone.
Seems to me that games turn on a dime much more easily than they used to. I kinda like it, it makes dumping the puck and playing a proper PK much more important than it was in 09, where I could often times not even know I was on the PK

I did find then I when I cut back on the arcade-type play and worked on simulation-type play I did much better.
Very good thing IMO.

I noticed that early on. It seems if you screw around you're much more likely to get scored on in the final minute. Kind of annoying, but a positive outcome is you're forced to play a more realistic final minute.

Wow, I am never playing this game Ranked Versus again, all I play is cheaters.
Online really is garbage and nothing more. Stick Lift and pokecheck works 100% against me, and when I do it it takes 3 times, and by then I have a penalty so I don't bother.
If anyone in our league plays like this I am leaving.
Well that was fun, not. Of course he was Vancouver, but what can I except.

Maybe your just getting vastly out played by other players? Nothing is unrealistic about stick life and pokecheck. Learn how to do what they can do with those two along with make your player in better position to avoid getting sticked lift or poke check. It's all about quick movement and awareness.
Through the online ranked games I've played so far, I haven't encounter any cheese goal or cheating tactics yet.

I hate playing the glitchers. I don't mind if people use a cross crease if the play makes sense, its a legitamate play, but I hate the people that constantly twirl in circle, and abuse the stick lift feature.
If I'm playing a guy who is glitching, I'll just leave. It just pisses me off.

In the be a GM mode, when I play a game myself, how come I cannot change the lines?

The one major "cheese" tatic I've seen so far is fight baiting the final minute. This guy starts hammering the "fight" button and soon enough Iginla has "stepped in" to defend the honor of Cory Sarich in the final minute as I'm down by one. Goddamnit that was annoying.
But yeah Justin, practice mode is your friend. See something a player is doing that you can't do? Go to practice mode and practice dekeing, shooting, defense etc.

Because you don't have line changes set to manual.

I can't even find the option to fix that though. Normally it's a readily available option, but in Be A GM, I can't find it. Even if you're playing a game and line changes are set to auto, you can still change the lines if you want.

When you starting a new game after picking your lines, the option for home and away line changes and shot aiming is changable before loading game sequence.

Oh ok, so only then, and not during the game? That would explain it.

Yeah I dunno what people are talking about on this thread - I am coming up on 60 games now in 1v1 ranked play, and I haven't found any glitchers or horribly cheesy players.
I can't believe people complain about cross-crease stuff - it's much easier to defend against this year, the goalies have some great new moves to deal with it a lot of the times, and the goals that I have allowed cross-crease, I've known I'm out of position before they've shot and could see it coming.

It has nothing to do with how good I am. I will try and describe it easier. As SOON as I would get the puck, anywhere on the ice, he would stick-lift IMMEDIATELY, and it would instantly go to him. And it didn't matter if his player was near me, far away, behind, in front, etc. You have to play these d-bags to understand what I am talking about, but when you do, you'll understand.
I have played a total of 3 games online, and twice have faced cheesers, and my first game the guy quit after I got 3 straight goals in the 3rd to make it 4-1.
I'm not sure which community is worse online, Madden or NHL.
And as for cross-crease, which I wasn't talking about, is super hard to pull off these days. This is very good because people don't do it 40 times a game anymore.

It's a much different game than NHL09 was, you can't get away with carrying the puck through multiple defenders every time you try to gain the zone. No offense, but you sound like the kind of guy who can't accept a loss without calling the person you lost to a cheater.

Ok, play the people I do. I don't understand the blatant flaming. I got smoked 6-0 to someone from CP, did I call "cheater", no.
Ask our club game yesterday where they scored 7 goals on 12 shots (we all left in the 2nd period), were they not all glitch goals? 6/7 were.
This game is infested with cheaters.

Sorry Justin, I'm in the crowd that thinks you sound like a sore loser.
Maybe you see one or two cheaters and think everyone is, but you can't be running into that many cheaters when no one else is.
