I remember that. Vibe had a contest to meet Gwen Stefani. The contest was to create a group and whoever had the most people join would win. So people created a group for him and he had a crazy amount of votes and would have won. Vibe then changed the rules so that the person must be aware that they're in the contest or something like that.

Apparently, I heard he passed away. Anyone know if there's any truth to this?

I know exactly who you're talking about. I haven't seen him in over a year.
And yeah, there was a facebook group dedicated to this guy with pictures and everything. One of the members of the group was a nurse and she said the guy passed away.

You guys all have your token Homeless Person. Personally, I can't stand the Metro paper guy every morning at 1st street station.
"MORNING METRO!"
"METRO TODAY!"
"METRO!"
On another note, I know about 'Big forehead asian dude' and the 'SPARE CHANGE' guy. Two other homeless people I frequently see are an old black woman in a huge winter jacket pushing her worldly belongings in a grocery cart, and an older gentleman with what appears to be a perpetually broken ankle near the city centre c-train station.
Oh! I forgot about Calgary's best Historian, too. He's a shorter man, big glasses, brown hair and beard, has a rather sever hunch in his shoulders and somewhat of a belly lately. Always rides the C-train, and occasionally makes an appearance at political rallies. He was featured in the newspaper one day a few years ago on a story about a storied veteran of one of the World Wars.

By spare change guy are you referring to the older guy who sort of has a rain man rocking motion?
He really cleaned up his act over the past few years, or got on some meds. He used to say "COIN!!!" or something like that and if you didn't give him money he'd swear at you under his breathe. He was then seen with a black eye and an arm cast and the rumour was he'd said "F you" to the wrong person and gotten a beat down.
It seemed not long after that he started saying "god bless" all the time instead. The dude does have something churning up there in his head though as a few years ago on Halloween he dressed up as a witch. Full drag, makeup, the whole bit. Dude probably made some serious cash that day, everyone was giving him money.
