Vet in the deep SE
I recently moved to Chaparral and out current vet is in Crowfoot. I am looking for a vet recommendation for our two cats. Our old vet had a great bedside manner (not sure if that is what it is called for vets) and I would like to find a new vet that is very personable. If anyone knows of one in areas like Sundance, Midnaport, Shawnessy, Bridlewood, Somerset, Millrise, ect. that would be great.
Thanks in advance.

When we lived out there we took our dogs to McKenzie Towne Animal Clinic. They were great with the dogs and a pleasure to deal with.

There's two at 130th. We go to the one on the west side, South Trial Pet Hospital. They have on in Shawnessy as well that's open 24 hours in case of emergency.
When we tell my dog she's going to see Dr. Fran it's as though we told her that we are going to the dog park. She gets so excited.

There's one on McIvor Blvd near Copperfield. (Same strip mall as the Co-op gas bar.)
My rabbit has only had to go in there once- but the vet also had a good "bedside manor", and they are open evenings and weekends which is a plus for me.

Vet in Okotoks is the best place to go, they don't recommend or push un-necessary procedures. Plus they are 10 to 15 minute drive from Chaparral.
I live in Lake Sundance and have been going their for quite awhile

I have heard they are pretty pricey though. One person I knew was going to get their dog spayed their and it was over 600, I sent them to my vet and it was just under 400

We take our puppy to shawnessy... we like Fiona. They are expensive though, so after she gets spayed we might go elsewhere for the next things.

Its located on the right hand side just before you enter Okotoks. From my experience the Vet's in Calgary are quite pricey compared to out of town Vets.

We use Foothills Animal Hospital in Okotoks . . . . . . which is about 15 minutes south of Calgary.
One time a few years ago, we were in Toronto with the relatively helpless granny looking after things when the dogs got skunked in mid-evening. That's when you get one of those helpless feelings. However, Dr. Miranda Bourque came out to the acreage at about nine at night to de-skunkify them.
With six dogs and cats and a healthy dose of paranoia, we might be her top customers.

I came in to post something similar. We used to take our dog to the Shawnessy Pet Hospital in the big Shawnessy mall off McLeod Tr and they do a great job but alot of the stuff they do is almost double the price that they charge at the new vet we go to. The new vet wouldn't really classify as "deep se" though, he's in Canyon Meadows.

We picked up our lab from a rescue in high river. The owner told us a story about a dog that desperately needed a blood transfusion and Fish Creek was the only place that helped her out. She speaks of them as if they are gods.

never go to bow bottom vet clinic..its like a huge marketing scam..they are more worried about selling product than the animals..and there is a minimum 88 dolar charge for walking in the door...no im not kidding

So, seeing as I haven't had occasion to shop around for vet prices- what is the going rate for a checkup?
I would still pay more to go there- my rabbit hates being in the car so I can get her there in a couple of minutes. I'm just curious to see how bad it is.
For her checkup I paid $60, and then $14 for her perscription. (I took her in because of an eye infection- so it's not like they were trying to upsell me.)

The best viet in the city is in forest lawn, it's not in the deep SE. Nothing like a large bowl of pho at Pho Dau Bo off 17th ave SE though with a side of nuoc beo.
And just as I'm about to submit this I'm realizing that the thread title doesn't say viet, I'm too drunk to edit this.
Don't drink and post.
