Default How do you know if tickets are legit?

Hi guys, I don't make it out to games much being in Saskatoon and when I do I usually just call the front office so I never have to worry about it.

I am buying tickets for this Flames Islanders game Saturday here in stoon off kijiji and am just curious if there is any fool proof method to figuring out if they are legit, or any steps I can take to protect myself in a private sale?

If anyone has a picture of the ticket for this Saturdays game I guess that would be a start.

I would only buy tickets printed on the actual ticketmaster stock, not the 'print at home' tickets.

You could try Stubhub. You may pay more, but at least the tickets are guaranteed.

Right. I buy many tickets from there and TicketsNow and what's neat is they are usually from a STH so you get a pretty ticket too

It's really hard to figure this one out. Anyone can call the Flames office and have their tickets cancelled and re-issued for a small fee. If someone is selling them they can give you the originals, cancel them, get new ones printed, and all he needs to do is be sure to get in the doors before the first set is scanned, leaving yours useless. It's a real a-hole move, but does happen.

You don't even need to call the Flames. You can do it yourself on line. In this case with the game is Saskatoon, all the tickets would be generic ticket master tickets like a concert.

One time I did see the scenario you described. The seats behind me at the Dome. People were sitting in the seats and just after the game starts another couple comes along with the same tickets. After visits and conversations from numerous ushers a blue jacket usher comes along, the second couple are escorted out of the Dome. I'm not sure how the mixup occured, but when the second couple had their tickets scanned at the door, the tickets wouldn't scan. But the guy at the door just said go in anyways thinking that his scanner wasn't working or something.

After the FOI thread about a season ticket holders having his tickets holders and the Flames will just void them and reprint - I would never purchase tickets off Kijiji or Craigslist again - unless you got verification of who they are so if they do sell you stolen tickets you at least have some recourse.

That happened to me in Edmonton. I bought tickets on Kijiji to go up to Edmonton and see the Flames pound them on my birthday. Got there and the tickets would not scan in.

Fortunetly for me, the Oilers actually took me up to the Press Box to watch the game. I had to take my Flames jersey off and couldn't cheer, but I was very thankful to them.

Needless to say, I will never buy tickets from Kijiji again.

I would only buy from people that have Seasons tickets..... You know the row and seat number so they are unlikely to try and screw you over.

Wow. That's the first time in my life that I've been impressed by the Oilers.

There was a couple of us that bought the same tickets, and I think one of the people in that group was in tight with one of the Oilers higher-ups. I think he was the reason they did this for us (likely wouldn't have happened if it was just me). They couldn't really take him and not us when we were all sitting in the security office in the depths of Rexall together. I was grateful none the less.

Even better than that was that when we were up in the press boxes we had like our own little assistant (basically sent there to ensure that none of us bothered any of the players or media), and anytime we wanted something (popcorn, pop, etc.) we would have it brought up to us free of charge.

The funny thing was, the dumbass that sold us these tickets actually left his real contact information. I received my payment back to him in full (gave him ten minutes to resend my paypal money before I called the cops). Little did he know, the Oilers were already in contact with the police.

I got the best seats in the house for nothing

Hrmm all of these stories are making me a bit nervous about purchasing off kijiji...

They are lower bowl as well, so it is probably season ticket holder seats.. lots of people picked up blades tickets just to get the WJ tickets, and these were also an added bonus.

I do the opposite. As soon as someone prints them, the originals are void. If you have print outs there is less chance you'll get denied.

The one thing you can do is insist on paying via Paypal, and then use your credit card to fund the Paypal purchase.

If the tickets are no good you can at least get your money back. Won't help you that night though; and it's not like you can just take your family to the next game in Saskatoon next week.

By tickets from Calgary Puck. If it is not a premium game there are lots of tickets available

edit: I just read your post and I see that you are going to a game in saskatoon so its not likely people here have tickets.
