Ok so when I went to sim today the sim didn't like the fact that none of the teams had AHL coaches. This didn't come up in the previous fun games we simmed so I didn't really know we couldn't not have AHL coaches.

I figure there are two options
1. We load in the AHL coaches for each team based on their NHL counterparts. Since AHL coaches aren't familiar to us for ratings, we give everyone a standard "generic" rating.
2. Each team hires a coach of their choosing.

Option 2 is far more complex as it will take some time for everyone to find their coaches.

i would prefer to go with Option 1.

Thoughts?

Games will have to be delayed until we sort this out.

I think we should do a hybrid of that, do #1 for now, and by the end of the preseason, hire our own AHL coaches? but if #1 works for everyone, I'm cool with that.

My concern is how do we apply rules for that. Will teams simply try to hire other NHL coaches for the AHL? And what do we do about their contracts? Do they apply to cap space?

I think its something we look at for next year.

I would think that they should get a standard minimal contract that only apply to the AHL cap. (my suggestion btw is for later, not now, I think generic is the way to go for now)

I agree, in my opinion its to late to worry about AHL coaches... I would recommend that every team gets a generic Coach and generic AHL rating.

We could roll out it differently next Summer

Long term: I'd love to see a randomized draft, much like when Coaches were introduced into the CPHL in the first place.

Or, why not have us as AHL coaches... that'd be cool...
