I watch the CFL games time to time and its hard for me to watch it. the whole 3 down thing and the bigger field.
Personally I rather watch college football with all the pride and playing for future contracts and pride of school is the best. I also watch No Fun League but im not into it that much with all the brandon marshalls and jay culters in the world that bitch and moan because they are millionares and god forbid they dont get there way.
But to me I Rather watch NHL, AHL, USHL then maybe low minors hockey.

I have absolutely no time for the NCAA. I think it is a corrupt organization, I'll never watch college football.
I'm an NFL guy. I used to love the CFL but the talent level has diminished so greatly in the last ten years that I find it very hard to watch (just my opinion).
My biggest complaint with the CFL is the piss poor production. When you watch an NFL game, you're getting proper replays and camera angles. You just don't get the same kind of production from TSN or CBC.

Ummmmm, no. Assuming that both teams would be trying to do they're best on every play, without worries about running up the score, the 2008 Detroit Lions would beat the 2008 Florida Gators by AT LEAST 100 points, most likely 150. Seriously. The Lions would score almost at will. The florida Gators may gain a couple of first downs, but would have a really tough time doing so.

i do agree that the tv production is better for the nfl, what do you expect though. the tv contracts in the states are rediculous, TSN is getting better each year and is a big improvement from CBC.
but if your at the Stamps game, who cares about the tv...

I'm a wuss for Calgary's weather. I don't like going to games in October or November as it is already winter up here! I've been to NFL games at Christmas and not felt the same cold.

As I said this would be the closest game. Obviously it is subjective and I dont think you could prove what you are trying to say. Maybe last year that was the case but I know that back in the golden age of college football (20's), a college team could take a pro team any day. Most college players would not play pro because there was no money to be made. It wasn't until the galloping ghost that the pro players could start to make a good living (relative to other college grads).
As far as the Canadian vs. the American gridiron game the best comparison that I can think of is in highschool. My highschool never played an American team so I can't compare personally, but I played against highschools who played Americans every few years. When my little bro played peewee they would go down and play teams from Montana and the games were pretty close so that that FWIW. Can anyone who has played both rules weight in?

I may be totally off base here, and if I am please ignore this post. Im not saying that the NCAA isnt corrupt, but all sports are corrupt.
Im guessing your user name is in reference to Jose Mourinho, so I am guessing you are a fan of association football. Look at the recent history of the league that Mourinho is managing in right now? Association football in europe (and probably most of the world) is super corrupt, way worse then anything in North America (or at least here they can cover their @ss). This doesnt ruin the champions league for me.
If you dont want to watch NCAA football that is fine but dont say you refuse to watch it because it is corrupt, that is ignorant. Because NCAA is amateur I would guess that they are much me diligent at catching the worst cheaters, and not sweeping things under the rug. You can find corruption in any sport if you want, you can choose to ignore it, or you can just accept it. IMO this is not a valid reason to write it off.

Another thing I have against the CFL is the one point rule, you miss a field goal and you get a point? BS.

I went to the Western Finals a few years back and left early it was so boring. I would rather watch an NFL on TV than a CFL game live. Just my opinion.
Personally I like sports in general so I will watch whatever but on a Sunday afternoon I will watch NFL over CFL any time!

I don't understand the rule really. It has been explained to me before but I'm still not sure why you get points for doing nothing. Maybe a CFL guy can explain it a bit better.

read the last few pages of the labour day game thread, we just discussed it. (sorry, it is a good discussion on it there already, and the game is passed so it doesn't matter if its not on topic)

My problem with the NCAA is that they screw these young men who generate BILLIONS by paying them NOTHING. I know they get a degree if they can stick it out for four full years but statistically the majority don't. Look at the graduation rate for all the big schools.
Of course there's corruption at some level in all sports but none so blatant as in the NCAA in my opinion.

The best sports are definitely the ones that you have an emotional attachment to; for me, that's the CFL. My grandfather took my father to Stamps games at the old Mewata Stadium, and my father took me to Stamps games when I was young. Now I take my father to the games, and someday, I'll take my offspring. We still lug the same Hudson Bay point blanket to the games that my grandfather owned. My cousins were Eskimos fans. I hated them. I'd never be able to dispassionately debate the merits of the various leagues, because everything about the CFL feels right; it all just fits, and every other league feels off to me. I would fully expect anyone who grew up with a similar exposure to the NFL, or NCAA, or any other sports league to be similarly passionate about it.

I love football in general. Each league has its pro's and cons.
NFL definately has the highest overall skill level as others have said. It is just a much more professional league in my books. They have the best players in the world.
NCAA is great because of the fans. I really enjoy the alma mater passion and the bands. I love the unique fight songs, the mascots, and the traditions carried out by the student body. It's a stark contrast to the 50 family and friends who show up at CIS games. It's a shame really.
If any of you have not gone to a live NFL or NCAA game, I highly recommend it. It's bedlam. The experience is one-of-a-kind.
There are lots of CFL pureists, but there are a few things which I dont like. Mainly:
- The single points
- Teams giving up safetys all the time for field position
- 6 of 8 teams make the playoffs. (Guess it's a small league so there is no other choice really...)
However I do like the CFL because it truly is unpredicatable. The rules allow teams to win with little time on the clock like in the Cgy/Edm game a few weeks ago. Plus, since it's local it is easier to connect with the team and players.

For me, it is NFL -> NCAA -> CFL. I respect the CFL but just don't have the same level of enthusiasm I have for the others. I enjoy watching the best players in the world, at their age level, for all sports not just football. For that reason, the CFL is my least favorite of north american football leagues.
I follow the CFL casually and know most of the Stampeders players and catch the occasional game as well as keeping track of their progess each week, but I don't go out of my way to watch the games. I always watch the Grey Cup and hope the Stampeders win every year. I don't belittle the CFL or CFL fans though. I simply like watching the best athletes in the world for their age group compete and the CFL doesn't offer that.

Your an ignorant ass.
Seriously the money the school brings in goes towards more class rooms better professors, tuition for the scholarships that they gave out.
Get over it, These players in the NCAA are only worried about jumping to the pros and kicking the pooch to the curb for the money. Besides big programs pay the players. Maybe not the coaching staff or school but I bet Julio jones (stud WR for bama) didnt get his brand spanking new tahoe by working hard at mcdonalds or his parents didn't buy it for him.

I have been to arrowhead and ramond james stadium for NFL games.
I have been to the swamp for gator games. I have been to kinnick stadium for a stupid hawkeyes game I will be going to bryant denny stadium tomorrow for the bama home opener.
The NFL games were cool But ARROWHEAD was nuts. I really dont remember the home opener too much was too drunk. RJS was okay nothing to write home about.
One of my iowa friends drug me to a Iowa vs Mich state game. It was cool for an old stadium but nothing compares to what I have seen in gainesville. That stadium is so damn loud. The band is great and the fans are passionate. when they chant Orange and the other side of the stadium yells BLUE sends chills down my spine. When mr two bits runs the players on the field you can literally feel the ground shake.
Now at arrowhead was a cool experience too. at the end of the national anthem when it comes to the "home of the brave" the substitute home of the CHIEFS! awesome feeling.
The KC fans are probaly some of the most passonate NFL fans I have been around. They almost have college feeling about it. But by a far distance college football is a much better experience because one they dont sell alchol at the game sso you dont get stupid people getting stupid drunk thru the game its just an amazing experience.
I dont know how many of you canadians ever get to make it to the football belt aka the south were football is king (kinda like hockey up in canada) but its different from washington, Oregon, its just a religon down here. Its so awesome!

Are you trying to tell me that the fans of a professional sports team in Florida weren't very passionate? I don't believe you.
