Yeah, would have been better as a shoulder patch, though they had the old Guns logo shoulder patch on one side and the Snakes and Batters logo on the other.
One little touch they had, which kinda surprised me, was that they had the crossed Canadian-American flags on the back between the shoulders, exactly as the 2002 Cannons did after 9-11. I'll definitely give the Vipers credit on the execution. They didn't cheap out on the retro jersey.

They6 went for 100-150 each...not bad for a jersey that was printed, not stitched. I tried to cheap out on a couple and ended up empty handed.

I guess they had franchise record attendance tonight for the playoff game, almost 5000 people. Good for the team and good for baseball in Calgary. Bad result though, they lost to Edmonton. Still lead the series though 2-1

some of the defensive errors in that game last night were brutal. you can tell it's a league of hitters on a night like that.

Great comeback today... spotted Edmonton a 5-0 lead before we even recorded an out, then battled back for an 8-7 win by scoring two in the bottom of the 9th to win.
Off to the finals again, third time's the charm, hopefully?
Pisses me off that I can't make the ffinals at all next weekend. Hopefully we get good crowds to see the title awarded.

I went tonight as well. Great game.
Still disgusted at the price of concessions ($6.50 for two pepsi is ridiculous, almost as appauling as the burger and a beer combo for $10), but i'm too much of a baseball fan to stay away.
I also noticed they are increasing the price of their ten game flex pass by 25% for the season ( I paid $75 bucks this year, and it's going to be $100 next year). Always a smart business decision in a recession with a product the vast majority of the population could careless about. Still can't see for the life of me what the heads of this organization are thinking.

They are thinking that they are already only drawing the die hards, so raising the price is not likely to hurt the bottom line, and could lead to a few more dollars.

Pretty crappy business model if you ask me. Give up on expanding your fan base, and stick it to few fans you already have. That's the recipy for a team folding in the not too distant future.
They should take a look up north to see how a baseball team should be run (off the field anyways, no complaints from me on the field).
On a side note, man oh man was Morban pissed tonight. I think he would have been suspended for the final given he bumped the umpire and threw his batting helmet at the third base umpire. In his defence though, that was the quickest toss I have ever seen an umpire give.

Edmonton batters were talking all night... I'm guessing either Morban continued an argument from earlier, said a magic word, or the ump finally had enough. Not sure what the Capitals were whining about - the ump's strike zone low on the right handed batter's side was terrible, but it was consistently terrible for both teams. They knew what a strike was, and Morban went down on the same pitch that was called all night.

That's what I said to my buddy. He was calling low and outside on the right handed batter's side a strike all night, and that even though it wasn't a strike both teams should have known it was going to be called one because he was consistent with it.

If umpiring interests you from a distance (and it sounds like it does), the new book "As They See 'Em" by Bruce Weber is terrific. It's one of the best - if not THE best - books on baseball I've read yet.
It's certainly changed how I view the role of the umpire in baseball. There are certain things you just can't argue (balls and strikes for one), and certain things that, if you say them, will get you ejected no matter what (mo********er). If an umpire thinks a guy has gotta go in order for him to maintain a level of peace in the game, then I can't begrudge them for pulling the trigger quickly.
On a tangent, here's a funny story I read in "As I See 'Em". I'll paraphrase:
Bob Uecker is at bat of the first time in the bigs. He takes a called strike one. He looks back at the home plate ump.
"That couldn't have been a strike," says Bob.
"Yes it was, and so's the next one," says the ump.
Love it.

I agree; it is a great book. It kind of petered out near the end, but I can't really complain about that. Doesn't hold a candle to 9 innings by daniel okrent however. Now that was a great book. odd man out by matt mccarthy is also pretty good.

9 innings is a classic. Its an entire book about one game - hence the 9 innings . Brewers-Orioles fin 1982 or so; just a random game. Each chapter corresponds to an inning of the game. It is quite well done.

Up 2-0 in the series now, with three chances to finally win the title at home.
And I've got to miss it
