TV viewership determines what's "better?" So, bass fishing, poker and spelling bees are "better" than the NHL because they've got dramatically higher ratings in some areas of the US?
I guess I should stop watching Breaking Bad because Dancing With the Stars is a far better program..........ratings wise.

You don't get a point for missing a field goal you get a point for kicking it out of the end zone something that actually rarely happens on missed field goals as the returner generally runs it out of the endzone. What you are saying is basically the same thing as saying its stupid that you get three points for failing to get a touchdown. The multiple ways to score points in football (CFL and NFL) is something different from most sports and one of the things that makes it such a great game.

Learn to read. Obviously what I meant is that players from crappy colleges are more willing to come up to Canada. There are far fewer players from real universities that provide quality educations up in the CFL.

I agree it's a strategy but still it takes away an exciting element of the game. I'm sure you've seen returns where they player is seemingly trapped but manages to dodge a tackle or 2 and ends up with a huge return or a TD.

So, the kicker is going to kick it 67 yards through the end zone? I don't think so. He's got to make the FG. When a team is close enough that the kicker can kick it through the end zone, the kicker doesn't miss too many field goals. Teams give up single points earlier in the game because it almost always makes more sense to give up a point and get the ball on the 35, rather than starting on your own 5 or 10 yard line.
The scenario you talk about can happen, but it really is quite rare. I was at a game in Calgary about 4-5 years ago where it did happen, the game was tied, Toronto drove the ball to roughly the 20 yard line, and then lined up for a FG on the last play. I don't think the kicker even tried to aim for the uprights. But really, it probably only happens once every 4-5 years, at most.

How often does this scenario REALLY occur? As well, 40-yard K attempt would most likely be run out of the endzone with ease, possibly with a massive return.

IIRC one of the teams was Winnipeg and the game was in Winnipeg. Just can't remember who the other team was.

That's one of the things I like about the CFL, it still has some rugby elements left in it. I just wish you'd see some of it more often.

Please. I wouldn't expect a CFL fan to know good defense when he sees it, but this has been an excellent game. Lots of big plays on both sides of the ball.
I love CFL fans that think more offense/scoring=better but then also think a 1-0 NHL game is more compelling than a 6-5 game.

I saw an NFL exhibition game in Minnesota a few weeks back. All the hype about Favre's return and the game was a snooze fest.

You can't really compare exhibition games with the real product. One of the worst football games I've ever seen was a Stamps preseason game against the Lions back in the Crandell days. I wouldn't use it as a measuring stick for the rest of the CFL.
