Actually, someone's POS Rav4 broke down in the left hand lanes just north of Glenmore, and Carmacks decided the safe thing to do is to close the entire lane until a wrecker could come and tow this piece of sheit.
When I got there I saw absolutely no sign that anything had happened. I don't see how a slow-down pattern could exist even at the three-to-two lane section of Deerfoot at Glenmore. It was backed up to north of 16th when I got onto the Deerfoot around 6:30pm.
How? If you're in the proper lane, you should never be cut off.
Too many Calgarians don't know how to navigate round-abouts... I know a lot of people that always thinks the OUTER lane in a round-about has the right of way which is absolutely not the case.
If your exit is the next one over, stay in the outer lane, any other time, get to the inner most lane, inner most lane inside a round-about has priority over the outer lane.

I've been cut off there dozens of times by ######s in the right lane that don't turn. If I'm in the left lane, I can turn at any of the exits, if you're in the right lane you're forced to turn.

So, on the way to work this morning traffic congestion on bow trail at 6:40 am was at the level that it usually is at 7:30 am (and how it used to be when it was 8:40 am many years ago).
What the heck is going on - don't people know that they are supposed to sleep in so I can leave a little early and not deal with traffic. I don't know what they are going to do with west access into the city - it continues to get more and more congested. I suppose the ctrain will help, but it is getting rediculous.

As noted by others, if people in the outside lane obeyed the rules of the traffic circle, I would never be cut off.
Vehicles inside the circle have right of way over vehicles outside, and vehicles on the inside lane have right of way over vehicles in the outside lane. Pretty damn simple for people with common sense.

Ah. I wouldn't consider that as being cut off. If you turn, they will yield. If you swap paint, it's their fault.

lol.
Your faith in drivers is much more optimistic than my experience with them.
The thing is, drivers in the outside lane should never be yielding. They are supposed to be turning at the very next exit. So at no point should they ever be crossing the path of a car on the inside lane. Doesn't quite work that way in reality.
