anyones thoughts on FSU /Miami??? Neither have really impressed me huge holes on the defense for both teams of course one is 18 and one is unranked...... they are both really really fast but thats been both team's forte for forever.....
Still Miami scares me for OU if Bradford isnt back.....
Just for the record , On Oklahoma sports talk radio , The Sooner nation is questioning why the Sooners have the returning heisman trophy winning QB and we come out and just run the ball for the 1st half....
the topic got me to thinking why they did that as well .... but anyway i guess the topic can be discussed here

Ya I'm sure a whole wack of first teamers were in after it was 38-10 at the half, and I'm sure those second teamers held on for the 4th quarter. You need to give your head a shake if you think those last 10 points mean anything.
The major difference between a BCS conference schedule and a MWC or WAC schedule is the fact that most years those non-BCS teams have 2-3 games in which they're pushed and 9-10 in which the can cruise by, that makes a huge difference in terms of the toll that a season takes on a team. This year the MWC looks much better top to bottom, but I'd take that schedule over a Big 12 slate anytime. BYU has added enough non-conference games to make up the difference though, if they run the table I'd say they deserve to be there, unless of course OU winds up pulling a Michigan and royal sucking the rest of the year.

Well early in the season establishing your ground game is usually a priority, especially when your QB is a pretty stable position. There's also the desire to establish run in the first half and wear down the D to open things up for later in the game. Whether that was the thought or not is obviously not something we know, but there are logical reasons for the strategy.
Also, maybe Bradford was already nursing an injury of some sort.

I have to watch BYU all of the time and I was surprised at OU's game plan. They didn't exploit BYU's weaknesses at all. I'm wondering how much prep time OU put into BYU or if they were looking past it. OU was very sloppy also. Looks like the Big 12 is for Texas to take but they have a big challenge facing Wyoming in Laramie!!!

take it easy rico , Sammy B will be back for miami. Ou will have learned from their mistakes. They will abandon the run and let Sam just sit in the pocket and pick the pourous Miami secondary apart ...... at least I hope thats how it goes

Very doubtful IMO.
If he wasn't a QB i would agree but he basically suffered a seperated shoulder, and for a guy that has to get his arm above his head every time he throws....i think that time frame is uber optomistic.
Either way...OU just didnt look all that great in any facet of the game against BYU, and Miami is one FAST team. Could be a real down year in Norman.

I would wager that they were trying to establish the run to give that new o-line some confidence. It's a lot easier to do so when you're driving off the ball and smashing people up field than sitting back and having linebackers and d-lineman smash you.
Sooner nation should probably recognize that in that first game, Oklahoma's o-line couldn't pass block a high school team. Run the ball is going to be the mantra until that changes and to make sure Bradford/Jones makes it out alive.

Word out of Oklahoma that greshem is out for the year. I think thats a big blow more so than Bradford. I am willing to say that was the missing piece for OU than Bradford vs BYU

I just read that too. Wow. Pack it in Bradford. A possible appearance in the Amazon.com Bowl isn't worth your golden arm.
The bright side is the Sooners might have a chance to win a bowl game if they drop far enough in the rankings. Ohio State has really taken the lead on major programs choking in major bowl games, but Oklahoma isn't that far behind (and Ohio State never disgraced themselves against Boise State).
