I suppose you're right, but really what are the alternatives? Either he:
a) Killed himself to escape justice where police would be guaranteed to find him before anyone else, or
b) Was killed by someone else in his own car in front of a police station by a shotgun-toting serial killer who not only managed to shoot him in such a way that he would have to be sitting right in the guy's lap at the time of the murder, but managed to escape without leaving a single trace of evidence connecting him to the crime and without being spotted by anyone during his escape despite having to be drenched in blood, bone, and gore
I guess I could see how some people might not put two and two together, but I do still find a bit of dark humor in the way the article is worded. At least the guy had the good sense to spare his loved ones the trauma of finding him.

Good. I didn't even read the story, but some piece of sheite like that needs to die. Gooder that he saved taxpayers money. I'm glad that filth is dead.

Does that happen much in Canada though? Unless they don't broadcast prison murders on the news, I rarely hear about them.

If no gun was found nearby it would be a pretty god damned important detail, I don't see what your problem is. The wording takes out any need for an assumption to be made.

The only thing lower in prison is a rat... but this guy definitely would have been tossing salads from day 1.

I love stories with great endings. I wish more of these child molesting cowards would off themselves. As a taxpayer the cost of prosecuting these filthy cocks is ridiculous...and then the carceration is even worse.

I think there is an important distinction between child molestors and guys that posess child porn. I think it is the former that gets you "screwed" in prison.

I don't think this happens very much any more. Probably in part because the guys who wouldn't hesitate in killing someone are kept in a maximum security prison and this guy wouldn't be. The people he would be with are looking towards release someday. That changes your behaviour somewhat. He might get beat up or raped but, that would have more to do with him appearing weak and therefore an easy target.

unless it's all just a cover-up of the repeated tazings he had just received which actually killed him.

No they aren't. Child rapists are. As for reporting that the gun was found nearby and how they know it was suicide, of course that is a key fact and needs to be reported. Why would anyone pick on this?

I guess I'm the only one who feels a little sympathetic here. There is absolutely no excuse for child pornography, but I think a lot of these guys are mentally attracted to it in ways they almost can't help. That doesn't justify their actions in anyway, but I can't wish death upon them. Strict punishment and mental assistance to deal with their attractions would be better IMO.
Maybe death on molesters, but not on child porn viewers.

The guy just came back from a vacation in Thailand. I suspect he was more than an observer of child porn. His motivation in ending his life might have had to do with what else he knew they would discover. Wasn't he a teacher by trade. Pedophiles often chose professions that put them into close contact with children: Teachers, pastors, priests, child councilors etc.

Very true, I don't disagree. Who knows how deep he was into this stuff, especially with the Thailand travels.

They are in my books. Chances are this guy had sex with children while in Thialand and a trial would have shown that.

Why would a trial on possession and importation of child porn show that he engaged in sex with children? Those are completely unrelated legally, and evidence of the latter isn't going to be coming in at a trial for the former.

Maybe some of those images showed him having sex with children.

If so the charges would reflect that

Charges are often upgraded when more evidence is found. Who's to say the police/RCMP aren't looking further into this mans past.
