Avalanche Name Captains

With the somewhat rebuilding somewhat competitive Avalanche team there were some tough decisions made this off-season but hopefully they turn out.

The Avs saw quite a few players leaving Colorado:
Patrick O'Sullivan
Shane Hnidy
Kristian Huselius
Alexander Frolov
Ian White

The Avs got some solid youth and vets come in:
Blake Wheeler
David Moss
Andrew Ladd
Brad Boyes
Willie Mitchell
Brad Stuart

The Avalanche have also named their captains for the 2009-2010 season:

Captain: Willie Mitchell


Alternative Captain: Simon Gagne and Brad Stuart


Hopefully this leadership group helps out the youth on the team for years to come. We feel Willie Mitchell is one of the best parade planners in the league so hopefully he has a great route for the city of Colorado. Simon Gagne was an assistant captain for team canada in the olympics so that says a lot and the experience of Brad Stuart makes him a natural leader.

Yes behind Doan and Selanne, Alffy refused it as he only wants to be here for 1 year so didn't want the A.

Only and idiot would have Luongo on his team and not give him the C. Dumbest choice in CPHL history, but thats another thread....

Mitchell is the obvious choice. My only caution is that he takes the parade planning thing a bit too seriously when you get to the cup finals and forgets to show up and play in that series....Than again winning your Conference isn't a terrible thing I guess.
