The worst part about the Oregon Boise St game isn't the punch, it's the fact that we're going to have to hear all the Boise St hype all year now while they beat up on a weak ass schedule.

Good for Boise State on taking care of their first win. I'm not a fan, but they've built a nice little program. However, they have to get rid of the blue turf. I can't watch games for long periods of time... it's too distracting.

Well, they're doing what they can, next year they've already scheduled oregon state and virginia tech, they can't just ignore their conference, they have to play conference games, and until they are in a bigger conference, some of the big programs likely don't want to be the one or two big games on the broncos sched that Boise has time to prepare the gimmicks for and lay a beatdown on.
They do need to do whatever they can to gain entry into the MWC though.

Ugh I hate the Gators, FSU is my team. Suprised they are nationally ranked again, I wonder which week they will blow it.

Just watched the video. Sucker punch? No. Stupid? Yes.
The Boise St dude touched him rudely, then taunted him right in his face. I think most of us would have wanted to take a swing too.

Poor taste taunting him like that but I guess emotions were high.
Blount just lost it, what a freak. Then he tries to go Ron Artest into the stands afterwards. Haha what a loser. He got suspended in February too.

The Boise St. guy had turned away and had no idea that the punch was coming. Looks like a clear sucker punch to me.

He touched him on the shoulder not sure it was that rude.
And after the way Blount ran his mouth and then sucked during the game he had to expect some taunts from the other team.
As much as we may have wanted to punch him we likely would have, especially if we were college athletes after the game.
And that doesn't even address him going after the fans and having to be removed by the cops.

What do these supposed mid-majors have to do to prove that they're for real?
Utah dominated an Alabama team that was a 4th quarter away from playing for the National Championship game last year.
Boise St. still has their Fiesta Bowl win. I still find it hilarious that people say that they had to pull out all their tricks to win that game yet forget that they were leading for about 55 minutes of regulation.
Like it or not, Boise St. is a top 20 program. They may play in a bad conference, but that doesn't change the fact that consistently compete and beat top 20 teams when they get the chance.
It's not nearly as easy as saying "schedule better non-conference games" or "join a better conference". In spite of popular belief, national recognition plays a very minor role in any team's non-conference schedule. Money, venue, date, etc. are the main factors to consider for most teams. Even if it was, why would any team want to schedule Boise State? It's a no win game, similar to Michigan vs. App. St. a few years back.

More fun then listening to the SEC hype machine. BSU only really needs to worry Nevada the rest of the way. BSU might have a weak schedule but have proven to be a competitive team and should prove it come bowl time.

It may not be their fault, but no team with a schedule like Boise State has this year should get a whiff of the National Championship game.

Agreed. Even if they do undefeated and everyone else has one loss they won't get in. Going undefeated ensures them the worst BCS Bowl game only.
I don't think they can go undefeated based on last nights game. They have some tough games on the road. Like Miami(OH) and LA Tech

Fresno St is a much bigger challenge than either of those teams, but I agree that there are a couple challenges before BSU can start worrying about which BCS bowl they'll be playing in.

Boise St. will not get a shot at the big game unless Oregon wins out and every other team in major conferences loses at least 2 games.

I agree with that statement and we all know they will be hanging around the top ten most of the year.
Watching the Utah game last night they have a lot of work to do but should impove a lot over the season. Breaking in new offensive and Defensive coordinators didn't help along with a new quarterback. They didn't run even half their offense . They+ stayed very basic.
This should be a good weekend.

great examples.
Now lets look at the rest you left out shall we?
This is just bowl games the last few years...the non-major winners highlighted.
2009
BYU 21 vs. Arizona 31
Navy 19 vs. Wake Forest 29
Hawaii 21 vs. Notre Dame 49
(ND not in any conference but always a BCS team when good enough)
Nevada 35 vs. Maryland 42
Alabama17 vs. Utah 31
E. Carolina 19 vs. Kentucky 25
UConn 38 vs. Buffalo 20
2008
Cincinnati 31 Southern Miss 21
BYU 17 UCLA 16
Perdue 51 Central Michigan 48
Mississippi St 10 UCF 3
California 42 Air Force 36
Fresno St 40 Ga. Tech 28
Georgia 41 Hawaii 10
Rutgers 52 Ball St. 30
2007
BYU 38 vs. Oregon 8
Hawaii 41 vs. Arizona State 24
Houston 36 vs. South Carolina 44
Navy 24 vs. Boston College 25
Miami (FL) 21 vs. Nevada 20
Boise State 43 vs. Oklahoma 42
Cincinnati 27 vs. Western Michigan 24
2006
Southern Miss 31, Arkansas State 19
California 35, BYU 28
Kansas 42, Houston 13
Boston College 27, Boise State 21
Utah 38, Georgia Tech 10
North Carolina State 14, South Florida 0
TCU 27 vs. Iowa State 24
If you are keeping score.. thats 8 for 20.
Not good enough, no matter how you spin it. I am a fan of small schools but they simply do not "deserve" any sort of BCS bid...especially when you compare schedules throughout the year.

Just keeping score, and I may be a bit off, but I only see 6 SEC wins on that same list. Weird.

Not completely unusual....as the SEC teams beat the snot out of each other all year. Thats what strong opponents do to each other.
As a side bar...and perhaps an example, Cowherd today made the point of the Alabama/ Va tech game tomorrow...in that the SEC has so many good and deep defenses in the conference, that VT has no chance. Im watching to see if that happens myself.
