Hell PIM, not just trucks... even though they do the most damage... I get tired of people that don't respect other users of the road (including cyclists).

hell one day I was loaded to the gills with Rock I weighed 63k lbs and I was booking along around 65mph and crossing over interstate 80 and some stupid broad decided either she didn't want to stop or she didn't want to be behind a "slow" dump truck so she pulled out infront of me about 50 yards before I got to the off ramp and I laid on the horn and brakes hoping to god I dont kill anyone and some how I managed not to hit her. I did however follow her to the place she was going and had a nice conversation on that most of these trucks in this area get paid by the ton not the hour so we work fast and we are not like 18 wheelers and to pay attention. I said alot of cuss words and Are you that stupid? or do you want to die? It got real bad when 2 kids under the age of 10 jumped out of her SUV.
I told her that I could of hit her and her husband would have to identify the body from dental records and I would of walked away.
After that she broke down in tears. I hope it works for her but I get tired of people that dont respect trucks.

Sh1t like this drives me crazy. Absolutely one of my biggest pet peeves while driving. One time I was on the verge of just ramming the culprit that did this to me. I was going up McLeod Tr. in the right lane at 60 or 70 (just keeping pace with traffic) and some SOB pulled out of the Mohawk about 30 feet in front of me in a tiny little break in traffic, and then proceeded to do 30KPH. I seriously almost lost my mind. The traffic in the middle lane was wizzing by at speed limit or a bit above, so I could not change lanes to pass the useless tit in front of me. That was a day that I'd have actually pulled the trigger if I was driving the Batmobile.
And another thing... Today I stopped at the Petro in Westhills. When I went to leave the lot, I was behind two vehicles that were at the stop sign trying to get out, but there was a steady stream of traffic coming off Sarcee. The first vehicle got a chance and bailed. Then another stream of traffic, then a nice juicy break in traffic that both the vehicle in front of me and myself could have capitalized on. But she did not go. She sat. Didn't move. So I gave her the quick double honk to wake her up and she turned around in her seat and waved her phone at me! YES! She was busy dialing and I had to fricken well wait for her. The nerve of me to expect her to FU**ING GO when there's a space in traffic!!!!!!!!! No joke! She actually bowed her head again and finished dialing, then stuck that god forsaken piece of plastic up to her ######ed head and then started creeping forward to get in to traffic... Sometimes I think about installing a punching bag in my truck.

Do people not know their destinations or what roads to take in Calgary? Too cheap to spend cash on a 100$ GPS unit for their $50K Suburban? Too Brain dead to signal? Granted it was a turning lane, but that seems to be a popular theme with me for the past week with special people turning into the turn lane ahead of me.
and further delaying my time because the turn that I want, isn't the one that they want and so they sit there and flash their pathetic turn signal that they didn't for the 3 times they skipped across both lanes before.
Also.... Barlow Trail north, if you are uncomfortable with the possibility of ending up in a head on crash with a combined speed of 140km/h stay out of the left lane and suck it up in the right lane with all the other individuals who are turning onto 16th ave n. You can go 50kph there past the 2 clearly marked 70kph signs.

The most ridiculous thing happened to me this morning. I was going through that stupid intersection at Elbow Dr and Lansdowne Ave, in the right lane. Immediately past the intersection, the two lanes merge. Everyone in the world knows that you criss cross, right? Well, not the mega-###### in the white Toyota SUV. He rode up beside me as though I was in some kind of inferior lane to his and that he had the right to be in front of me. So I played chicken with him. Just kept driving and forced him into the oncoming lane until he slowed down and went behind me.
Stupid prick. The guy in front of me went first, then the guy in front and to the left went second, then me, then d-bag. It's natural flow of traffic. WTF makes you so important, a-hole?
So the guy had two options: either crash into me, or else go behind me. He chose the smarter option, but not before leaning on his horn and flipping me off. So I gave him the good old italian WTF hand signal, and he looked confused. Poor fellah. I'm sure alot of things confuse him.
edit to add that I was indeed in an inferior lane. But that doesn't mean that I wont stand up for my rights!

I'm going to compile your rants/stories into a bathroom reader one day. Great stuff! Continue to run into these types of people on the road and then write on CP about them.

It's not cheating. It's proper traffic flow.

I am out of thanks, but THANK YOU. People in Calgary are terrible for this, and then when you do try to do it proper the fata who merged a block ahead blocks you out for spite. At least the idiots in Vancouver were a little better at this situation. Probably all the waiting to cross that stupid Lions Gate bridge. That will be fun for the Olympics...
My specific pet peeve for today is left hand turning lanes from 5 St SW to Glenmore by the movie theatre. The left lane is for turning onto Glenmore, not for forcing yourself ahead of my vehicle while I am trying to get my Tim Hortons. The sign before the intersection is freaking huge, and you are all idiots.

Yup. Another example is EB Richmond Rd passing through 37th St. Two lanes that become one, just after the intersection. There's always some coont that is pissed that you "had the nerve" to use the right lane properly and attempts to block.
Fata that. I'll force my way in and when you're behind me losing your mind, I'm laughing at you.

I also forgot one more.
People driving 30 in schools zones in the summer/weekends.
SCHOOL ZONE DOES NOT EQUAL PLAYGROUND ZONE.

In the summer, some school zones are 30 because the school is all year round. But I agree with the weekend, or when it is 7:00 at night and their going 25 looking out for students.

I am speaking specifically of the school zone on Fairmount DR just south of the centre street Y instersection. School there does not run all year and it drives me crazy. People miss the school zone sign often, and then half way through see the ending sign and assume it is a playground zone. Makes me crazy mad.

They have special signs for those that say "Year Round School."

I'm not going to rant, just simply say that I live in the NW and am working way down in the deep SW and just to avoid the traffic in this city during the evening rush I'm driving all the way to Bragg Creek every day and then back in on the number one. I can do this drive in less time than it takes to use Glenmore west and Crowchild north at that time of day.

So if you are driving the Deerfoot today, you are going to have to pass by an accident.
And no, it doesn't matter where on the Deerfoot you are, you are driving past an accident...

Berserk. That's what I go when I get stuck behind a f'ing struggler that stops at a
Holy fata. I just lose my mind over it. It truly baffles me how incompetent people are. The combination of a cell phone driver being stopped at one of these, and subsequently causing me to stop, would probably push me over the edge into "smash window and beat ###### with his own cellphone" territory.

I used to think the same, then I did the math, assuming that the school/playground zone could be no more than 1 km long, and even then, the difference between going 30 and 50 through there is about a half minute. Decided it wasn't worthwhile.
Then I had children, and, to repeat an earlier point, decided that I'd rather be behind someone who 'missed the sign' or misinterpreted it every single day of the summer and every day on the weekend than be behind someone 'missing the sign' when there happens to be a school bus parked at the side of the road.
I'm changed my mind on many driving things and many things irritate me while driving ... but speeds through playground zones just don't seem to be worth the effort or stress.
