So this is what they cal a "super mailbox"? How long has Canada had them? They have boxes like that in some (mainly condo or townhouse) developments here, and oh yeah for some businesses too. Do you buy stamps from them to? Every once in a while someone suggest these cluster boxes at the end of streets with single-family homes but it never goes anywhere.

They are usually in newer neighbourhoods with single family homes.

I have one of these right across the street from my house. These have been around for awhile AFAIK

she lives and works in Florida, Art.

And missd, no stamps sold in them. you can deposit outgoing mail there, though.

We have developers put in curbside boxes for those. And we have a "grandfather clause"...if you are a new resident in a house with a wall box you have to get a curb box, unless it's in an historic district.

My wife could go on for hours (and infact, has gone on for hours) about all of her complaints with Canada Post, mostly from a small business perspective. Most recent was a screwup on an outgoing order to several hundred people in the US where CP apparently lost the paperwork, causing each of the packages to have to clear customs separately, and delaying the orders by up to a month. I think that in the future, we're going to start using a US mailing house so that things are just delivered freight across the border in one box, and then distributed through the US using the postal service, thus skipping Canada Post altogether.

Thank you as that is a pet peeve of mine too! It seems Canadians (and of course the British ) get it but most Americans don't.

Only best-selling novelists can get away with grammatical errors. Well that's one of the the things about which I've been warned. And I know it's really not true!

We do , but most of the letter sorting is automated and we get it in trays that we are only supposed to look at for like 5 seconds...We sort all the magazines and large envelopes now but that will be partially automated soon too.

Yep, When I lived in Sandstone and Woodbine, we had these mailboxes in both neighborhoods. Those neighborhoods are 20 years old.

I always thought it was 'a' before any word that started with a consonant, except for silent h's??? Is it because historic is not a noun?

Maybe the "an"is actually considered archaic now. That would make sense. I've never looked that up...just relied on the criticism I got for using "a". And the British seem to say "istoric" instead of "historic".

Yeah, my parents are brits and I have grown up with an historic not a historic.
