Default Chicago for a Weekend

So I'm in Chicago starting tomorrow and going back Sunday. Already have tickets to a Cubs, Bears and White Sox game. What else is good to do there???

Eat! If you get a chance go to Harry Caray's restaurant. Chicken Vesuvio is unreal. I ate at the one in Rosemont which is close to the airport.

I understand that Chez Quis is exceptional.

All I know is that the best thing is to take a taxi and not drive. I had a bitch of a time trying to find my way on and off the toll roads and getting around. Was a big fight with the wife trying to get directions to me and what not.

Not a bad city though, was only there for a night so we didnt get to do much other than go to the Tina Turner concert.

That's Buffalo.

As for Chicago, hit Rush St. or the bars in Wrigleyville (particularly Sluggers) if you're looking for drinks, both are a great time. I haven't been to the aquarium or the Field museum, but I've heard great things about both, and the pier on the lakefront has lots of patios and restaurants.

As for restaurants, I haven't eaten at Caray's, but if you're into really top level cuisine Chicago has some of the countries very best restaurants.

I figured I didn't have to bold the 'fight with the wife' part.

My sister has lived in Chicago the past few years and I have a ton of family there so i've been there more then a few times. In terms of places to eat.....i'm shocked that nobody has said GIORDANO's yet! BEST PIZZA EVER!!!!!!!!!! You have to try Giordano's Pizza. That is an absolute must. It's the best pizza i've ever had in my life.

In terms of other things to do........see if they have the boat tour that goes through downtown. It's a 1 hour tour and is worth it. They tell you about the history of Chicago and it's really neat. Also, go to the top of the John Hancock building as well. A great view for pictures etc and a lot of cool stuff up there.

You will have a lot of fun at the Cubs game! I went in '07 when Bonds was chasing the record and it was a blast. Amazing fans at Wrigley and an amazing atmosphere!

Last call there is 6:45 am so it's pretty nuts! The Hunt Club is a cool bar to go to (a lot of the Blackhawks go to that bar). We saw Patrick Sharp and Cam Barker there one night.

If you are into history, the Chicago History Museum is pretty neat as well.

^ YES, GIORDANO'S! One of my favorite memories from The Land of Jordan. If you don't eat there during your stay, you're an idiot.

If I went to Chicago, I'd make sure I hit Intelligentsia Coffee.

Got back from Chicago on Sunday.

Definitely, take the Skyline boat ride at 9:30pm on Saturday. It is beautiful because they have fireworks over Lake Michigan with the skyline in the background.

Check out the Magnificent Mile for shopping. If you are downtown, you can get a good hot dog at Portillo's. Pizza at Giordano's or Ginos is always good too.

If you are looking for a nice but not too expensive dinner, go to Bandera on Michigan at Ohio. You can bring a bottle of wine (which is ridiculously cheap) and they will serve it to you with no corkage fee. They have live jazz on the weekend evenings as well.

I just enjoyed walking around the downtown with all of the bridges and seeing the awesome architecture.
