Good. Accountability, people have been screaming for it forever, now it seems as though its arrived, but it has to be universally upheld with consistency.
UEFA should ask the national FAs to do likewise in domestic competition.
I dont care who it is, be it Eduardo or Ronaldo or Torres, diving for the penalty kick should be dealt with harshly.
Champions league TV money is big time dough and should an act like that decide the outcome a game a team could conceivably be denied a significant amount of funds for such an act.

What would the penalty have been if the ref had caught it? Yellow card? Doesn't really make sense to me that the retroactive penalty can be that much harsher.
Only time will tell, but when Torres/Ronaldo/some big name dives in the first Champions League game, we will have our answer.
Eduardo isn't exactly soccer's answer to Marty McSorley, and Arsenal isn't some hapless Hungarian qualifier. It's not at the level of a Ronaldo/Rooney suspension, but it's not a nobody either.

Eduardo is a big name?! That's news to me....and yes, I can see Arsenal isn't some Hungarian qualifier, that's why this has been all over the news. Because it's one of the EPL big 4.

Where did I say he was a big name?? He certainly isn't a nobody though.
The problem I have with it is that if the referee had caught it, it would have been nothing more than a yellow and a zero suspension.
On the one hand it's good that if they get away with it uefa can suspend them later but they need to go a bit further where diving for a penalty is an automatic red.
Rule's been in place for ~4 years now and this is the first step in by uefa. Need to keep it up.

"Uefa has risked antagonising Arsenal further by confirming that there are no plans to institute a regular programme of video referral for matches under its jurisdiction or issue an anti-diving directive in the light of the Eduardo da Silva controversy."
As an Arsenal fan, I'm glad it was overturned and Eduardo isn't getting punishment nobody else is getting, when many deserve it more.
As a fan of game, I'd like to see more done about diving across the board. But they shouldn't start with making someone an example. They need to voice a plan before a specific incident and say if dives occur, they will receive X Punishment.
Well, very unconvincing games from Man U and Chelsea, getting 1-0 away wins each, Chelsea I can somewhat understand because Porto is a good team, but Man U's 1-0 against Besiktas should have been better. Very lackluster efforts.
The Real Madrid game was simply victory through sheer overwhelming quality, they kind of lost their minds for about 5 minutes around the 65th minute mark, but to be fair, I thought that penalty was a tad soft, but good work on scoring from the corner by Zurich.
I'm disappointed in the overturning of the Eduardo ban simply because: Yes, I know it was a bit of a double standard and that others have done much worse, but you have to start somewhere, now the situation is right back where it started. UEFA should have taken the heat for the Eduardo ban on the chin and moved on for the good of the game.

Yeah, he was not having a good day, honestly it should have been worse but Madrid turned on the cruise control after the first half until it got weird and was a 3-2 game.
I love the British expression "lost the plot" the commentators used it in reference to the Zurich goaltender incessantly....hilarious!
And yes, that penalty was a tad soft....just a tad....
But the player wont get a suspension because apparently UEFA dont do that kind of thing....just ask Eduardo.
