The spelling is equivalent to getting waterboarded by your third grade grammer teacher.

Tourtiere really is amazing tasting. As far as I know, its a French-Canadian staple for the holidays. My mom grew up in Montreal (actually Verdun which was mostly English-speaking at that time) and as a kid she always had tourtiere for Christmas eve dinner. Its a tradition that we have kept to this day. Tourtiere on Christmas eve and Turkey on Christmas day.

Pies are supposed to have fruit in them, not meat. Meat pies are revolting.

No, way. One of the best pie dishes is this from Russia. It's filled with diced and spiced meat, potatoes and onions, you have it with a cup/bowl of clear broth. So good.

I've seen this thread on the first page for a few days now. Every other time I've spotted it I've refrained from clicking because I was pretty sure of what it was. Then today, for some reason, I thought 'Well maybe I'm wrong.' Then I opened it...GAAAAAAAAHHH!!! It was exactly what I thought it was and now I'm dumber for having read it. Thanks, numb nuts.

Maybe compared to borscht it's the bomb but there's no way it compares to an apple or lemon meringue pie.

Stop trying to pansify the pie. Are you some kind of a flaming tourcherer? My grandma made some fantastic ones - really, can you ever go wrong combining beef with dough?

Not technically a pie, but a Beef Wellington is a beef tenderloin that is wrapped in a pastry shell
