Aion Fantasy MMO - are you going to try it?
I'm bit torrenting the open beta client at home as I type this...
http://na.aiononline.com/en/
Talked to a few people in my WOW Vent last ngiht that were in on the closed beta and they said it weas pretty cool looking and fun.
I'm definately going to give it a shot... looks very interesting.

Ya, I've been looking at this one for a while. My brother has been trying to get me to pre-purchase it for some time. It does look pretty good, certainly worth trying out. Would LOVE to get back into another good MMORPG. City of Heroes, WoW and NWN were the best ones I've played so far, this looks like it could fit into that category.
I'm a little gun shy after the Warhammer disaster though. Man, that was a terrible game.

If you are planning on playing it at all it looks well worth it to pre-order.

beside closed beta is over, open beta now - so I can try it for free.

My two sons have been doing the beta on weekends for some time now and think the game is very, very good.

Maybe...
I just got into DARKFALL. I love the challenge of that game thus far, having an actual death penalty makes adventuring so much more exciting.

Played Warhammer and Conan. WoW kicked their asses hard. Sticking with WoW.

Hey how is Darkfall overall? I loved the risk of dying in the old UO days, none of this pansy spawn and everything is fine stuff. How is the game otherwise?

Never played Conan but hear it was terrible. Warhammer wasn't hard to beat. That still ranks as the worst $60 I have ever spent on a game.

WAR and AoC can't even hold a candle to Ultima Online they were so bad.
Going to give Aion a shot. Coming from EQ, I don't mind the grindy-ness, and the group grinding leveling actually kind of appeals to me.
I'm not sure how people that have WoW as their first MMO would fare.

Lemme know how Darkfall goes. It got horrendous scores on IGN. Still, been wanting to try it for a very long time.

Just a tip if you are planning on joining the open beta...The game download is over 9GB, and I am only getting around 100Kbps via torrent. I would suggest starting the download a few days before the beta opens up.

So here's the thing: Darkfall isn't for everybody. If you truly loved the old days of UO where it's exciting but also painful at times due to the difficulty + other players - then you'll enjoy DF.
It's a game where you need a Clan for some backup, so jump into a clan early (it's not hard to find one - everyone's on one server).
I enjoy it thus far, the freedom to kill anyone you want and take their stuff is awesome. Someone loots your corpse or steals your kill? Mess them up!
I'd buy it.. but also like UO you need to do some afk macroing to really get competitive with other players. Let me know if you get it, I can give you a couple of tips (though i'm still pretty newbish myself).

If it truly brings back memories of old UO - I'll buy it this weekend.
Thanks Soul.

It does - just be prepared for the difficulty... it's HARD. Even the mobs don't go down easy.

Some of you guys would've liked Lineage 2 back in the day when you could drop items on death. Killing bots used to be hella fun back then *sigh* NCSoft carebear'd it up a bit now though, so you can only drop items when you have 5+ PK's and are flagged as red. Another thing I love about Lineage 2 is the open PVP. Lvl 80 and want to kill lvl's 10's? No problem. Losing exp by dying at higher lvls can be brutal. One death could mean hours or days worth of exp.
I haven't touched another MMO since I started playing Lineage 2 in 2004, but my brother and I have already prepurchased a couple accounts and are ready to give Aion a try.
I love the customization the game has. Lots of sliders when you create your toons. I wish there was more classes to choose from though.
I usually go melee in these types of games, so I'll probably roll an assassin (my main is a dagger/assassin type in L2).
Can't wait for the 6th!
Just to let some of the people that might want to buy this game online, I used Fileplanet and it was done downloading in a couple hrs. My brother bought it off Steam and was getting 1.3 MB/s. Do not use the slow NCSoft patcher, you'll be waiting for 2 weeks for it to d/l lol
