I would assume layoffs and redundancies due to the recent merger... seems pretty obvious.

I work at Suncor (Former Petro Employee) and they have been letting alot of people go. I'm in I.S. so I have only heard of I.S employees but I personally know of about a dozen that have been let go.
Other Business Units have laid off down to the Manager levels as well, but I don't know exact numbers.
I expect to know my fate within 2 weeks or so.

A friend of mine was let go from their land department.
Apparently she got a wicked severance package though.

She redeived 5 months salary. Not too bad considering she only worked there for 2 years.
I would consider that wicked

It's wicked if you're able to find a similar or equally as good job within 4 months.

That's still 4 months more than a lot of people outside of O/G get when they lose their jobs.

Sure to both of you, but wicked, used in it's original Boston area context would imply something much better than good! 1 month would be okay, anything more good, a huge payout would make me go "Wiiiiicked!" maybe even with my thumbs up. But if in three months I was still looking for a job. I'd be thinking "duuuude, not so wiiiiked anymore" and my thumbs probably would not point anywhere.

I work in Major Projects and we've been largely untouched. Helped that there were only two people working at Petro in my position.

Way to take a stand Wookie. The geographical/social nuances of the use of the term wicked were kicking my a$$. All cleared up now.

Not good news for anyone already out of work and looking. With the numbers I've been hearing floated around it's not just dead weight being cut and there will be even more skilled unemployed workers floating around. Ugh.
Can terrorists blow up our natural gas reserves already?
