While I agree, there's no chance Garcia would stay healthy for a full year behind that line.

Of course in the draft we discovered they had changed the definition of "DL"
For the past 5 years it was Linemen or Linebackers. Now it is only Linemen.
*sigh*
That kind of screwed things up.

I don't think so. The Raiders focus will be running the ball with Fargas, McFadden and Bush. That's their strength. I agree with moon on the Garcia front in that Garcia is a better game manager. He doesn't have to shoulder the offense and last year the Raiders ran the ball very effectively (top 10).
The passing game needs to be better - which is the o-line in part - but I think Garcia moves better than Jamarcus, makes decisions faster and the receiving corps is improved.
We'll see. If the Raiders run the ball a lot and only require their QB to keep the defense honest, I think there could be improvement.... (maybe?)

Yeah.
About the 9th round I notice the D are going onto my bench instead of the DL position, then I notice some players are marked "D", others marked "D/DB". So I select "DL" available to be drafted and notice they are are Linemen. At the same time another GM notices what is happening.
Of course, since the draft has started I can't even look at the settings. Now that the draft is over that option is locked out.
This pool has been running for years, and this year to set it up all I did was the "Use the same settings as the previous year" option.
So I have entered a trouble ticket with Yahoo. I hope they get it corrected soon, preferably before the remaining players come off waivers. Regardless, even though I told people not to adjust their drafting strategy, I noticed a few went heavy on linemen.
The thing is, everything else Yahoo changed/added this year was awesome.

Jets name Sanchez the starting QB. They cut their QB age almost in half from a year ago!

Rumors out of KC that QB Tyler Thigpen could be on the trading block. Pioli has stated that he only intends to keep 2 QB's, which is puzzling considering the carousel they had last season due to injury caused by poor pass protection. Brodie Croyle is probably the best QB out of the three, but isn't durable and has had injury problems since high school. Odd choice to get rid of Thigpen when it is very likely he will be the starter by week 4 (or possible the fourth quarter of week 1) due to injury.

I read somewhere that the Jags offered a 5th rounder for Thigpen, just a rumor though.

Dissension in the Crabtree ranks.

Meanwhile, we're hearing that Parker (Crabtree's agent) is dealing with the Crabtree conundrum on the recruiting trail by blaming the holdout on the player.

Crabtree's agent, Eugene Parker, a veteran of first-round contracts, started negotiations at a ridiculously high end — a non-starter for the 49ers — and now his client is being influenced by a family friend who is a bail bondsman by trade.

^Interesting. I thought that it was the family friend who was the agent all along. At this point I hope Crabtree holds out and re-enters next year draft. It will be hiliarious to watch him plummet in the draft and end up like Maurice Clarrett. I know that doesn't do any favors for your Niners though.

At this point he wouldn't bring much to the table until late in the season anyways. Right now you need to wonder if he has a T.O. type attitude to go along with the skillset. In that case I would have no problem saving the money and giving the roster spot to a guy willing to fight and earn it.
I'm still amazed how these guys and poo-poo millions of guaranteed dollars when they have yet to prove themselves. The Niners still remember JJ Stokes and if Crabtree doesn't remember the 1st rd 10th overall pick from 1995, maybe he should realize there is a lesson there.

Werder on ESPN just reported that the Broncos have suspended Brandon Marshall. No word on how long however.
Marshall has lost the support of his teammates among other things and was a complete jackass in practice yesterday.
they still insist they wont deal him though...which is just strange after this kind of blow up.
The Broncos are starting to get the circus feel of the oilers.
EDIT: Link here..looks like the rest of the pre-season.

There is a reason why I picked the Raiders over the Broncos in the NFL predictions thread.

I made the same prediction, Denver is a tire fire right now.
I've watched both of their preseason games and there aren't a lot of positives to dwell on.

What an incredible fall the Broncos have had the past 8-10 months. Blowing a 4 (IIRC) game lead and the playoffs, firing Shannahan, the Cutler thing, getting Kyle freaking Orton back in a trade, Brandon Marshall, Kyle Orton looking like vintage Kyle Orton circa his entire NFL career in the first preseason game.
It makes a Raiders fan smile, knowing that although it's not quite as prolonged, we are not alone under the Big Top.

I think one of the Chiefs two wins this season is definitely going to be against the Bronco's.
