I'm biased (since they've been one of my favorite bands for the longest time)... but this is probably the best piece of music they've put out since Clumsy. Of course, the single they released is absolute garbage again... but the rest of the album is 10 times better than anything they've put out since 1999. Amazing what getting rid of Bob Rock can do for a band.
For any hip-hop heads out there.. some of the tracks from the new Roots album leaked... good stuff.
Really? I think the new single is one of the most uninspired piles of crap in music history. The lyrics are incredibly weak, and the music is just blah. I think Raine Maida wore his welcome out about 10 years ago. These guys would be a footnote if it weren't for CANCON.

He agreed with you about the single, and I do to.
I am a huge OLP fan, and I am so far very much in love with Paper Moon, I completely agree... getting rid of Bob Rock was the best move they could have made.

All You Did was Save My Life is probably the worst OLP track i've ever heard. It's freaking terrible. Doesn't belong on the album at all.
I'm like most in that I think that OLP's peak was the first two records.. the next two were still good (but not touching Naveed and Clumsy) and the last two have been god awful. I personally think that this record is probably the best stuff they've put out since Clumsy.. but still doesn't touch those first two records. There's some tracks on there that would definitley hold their own with the best tracks on those two albums (namely Monkey Brains, White Flags and Escape Artist).. and that hasn't happened in a long time.
I know that they are one of those bands that people just love or hate. I'm not really one for mainstream rock, but I guess OLP is a guilty pleasure for me. To each their own I guess!!

OLP's "happiness is not a fish that you can catch" is probably my all time favorite album. Their most recent 2 albums are subpar, but this latest effort gives me hope that the band isn't quite done yet. OLP is really a ban that requires listenig the album vs. A song or two. Their albums have excellent flow.
Paper moons wasn't supposed to be on the album, I wonder what made them change their mind?

He agreed that the single is garbage, and was reffering to the rest of the album.

I don't know what it is.. but I haven't been able to enjoy OLP outside of Naveed. Naveed is one of the greatest albums I've ever owned. I still listen to it like crazy. Everything else just sounds so poppy and manufactured to me.. I don't know what it is, but it drives me nuts, because I wish they would put something out like Naveed again. Just listening to "All You Did was Save My Life" and it's just like I expected to hear from them. And I don't like it.

Whatever creativity OLP had in them was all used up on the first album. Everything since has been overproduced uninteresting and unimaginative garbage. Their lead singer cracks me up though, tries way too hard to come across as some "artist" yet his work is about as thought provoking as Avril Lavigne.

Good lord.. Raine Maida is terrible at writing lyrics.
Listening to more of the songs, I hate his words, I hate his voice. Ugh.. and Jeremy Taggart is such a good drummer stuck playing boring crap for a still boring band.

The album isn't doing too much for me, but hot damn I love this song.
I'm also finding that Maida's voice is starting to wear on me. OLP is probably the only band I can think of where the live show actually turned me off the band completely. I really like certain tracks off each album, but his voice and lyrics are getting harder and harder for me to listen to.
I had to re edit this since I put an incredibly crappy bands name in the same post as this great song..
God I can't stop listening to it.. I will overplay this song before the album even releases..
