The guy looks like he's pretty smart. I'm wondering whether he had a thought in his mind something like this:

"I'll guess on the answer, if I get it right, I win $1,000,000; if I lose, I can sell my story/use my story for fame/money that can propell me to make more money per year in the future."

That's what I think he did anyway.

There was this one episode where the guy called a friend for some help on the $8,000 question: What color litmus paper turns when dipped into an acid?

He was pretty sure it was Red from working at a lab one summer, but decides to call his Friend, a SCIENCE TEACHER
His friend told him it was Blue

I wonder if they are still friends. I also wonder about the State of Education for that state where his friend is teaching Sciences

Reference: http://books.google.ca/books?id=bRTY...age&q=&f=false

(No mention about Science teacher part of it, but I pretty sure I recalled that he was)

If 2 of the answer were taken away, I think the odds of guessing correctly then become greater than 50% no? Or is that just with 3 choices, and one removed?

And please, feel free to correct me.. it's late and I am not great at maths...
It's 3:1 odds. If 2 of the answers are taken away, it's still a 50:50 shot. You're thinking of the Monty hall problem where you pick an answer, then all, but one of the answers are taken away and you are asked if you want to stick or change your answer. Then it's better to change your answer.

Still, he's not getting the proper odds and even if he were, it's a ridiculous amount of money to gamble with.

On this board you never have to ask to be corrected Don't worry about that!

Man that was a good watch, I felt bad for the guy at the end, I loved his confidence.. one of a few times where it doesn't pay off though I guess.

Does that make me awesome that I knew the answer to the question prior to the answers being read?

They also don't have the "remove two of the answers" lifeline this time around. I didn't watch enough of the episode in question to know whether he had already used the new lifeline that replaces that one the "get two guesses instead of one" lifeline (that must be used before the first guess)

I wonder if all of those drinks were in existence when LBJ was pres?

LBJ was pres from 1963 to 1969:

V-8 (1948?):

Fresca (1963):

I can't believe I got it right, I thought for sure it was Fresca. Nothing for the ego though because I think I got the prior 4 questions wrong.

Yeah, they replaced 50/50 with Double Up. In the Canadian version, they should call that lifeline Double Double!

Just for the past week as the 10th anniversary celebration. I really enjoyed the show with Regis back on. It reminded me of back when that show was all the rage.

Asking the audience on the million dollar question is really stupid. Maybe 5% of the people know the answer and the others are just pressing a button. Then you see the 40% and you are influenced by the fact that people gravitate towards C when guessing on multiple choice questions.

Plus the guy oozes slime. It seemed like he couldn't believe that he had been swindled into the wrong answer.

I remember a teacher telling me that in junior high, and after that I payed attention to myself and realized that I always chose 'c' when I wasn't sure.

I didn't know WWTBAM was still on TV.

I like when idiots get greedy. It's funny. When I used to watch Deal or No Deal, I'd be pulling for the contestant for the first half of the show, and then I'd be hoping for them to lose it all in the second half of the show. "Stupid greedy F%$#... what does he think he is doing? Take the money and go..... I hope you lose it all you idiot...."

I love when people take chances. How often are you going to on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, and have the chance at the million dollar question? Living a boring, safe life is a complete waste. Take chances, and see what happens. This guy is also a Harvard law student/graduate, it won't take him that long make a million dollars.

If he gets the question right, he's a genius. If he gets it wrong, he's an idiot. Sometimes you just have to take a risk and see what happens.

At about 6:11 in that video you can see the scorn in his eyes. Almost like he hated every single person in that studio. What a terrible feeling to almost win that much than fall so fast. Good few minutes of viewing though, really enjoyed the man getting the best of a cocky kid.

I like when people call others idiots, then admit to watching Deal or No Deal.
