Never heard of it.
Beer is full of unhealthy carbs....which is probably why you need to lose the 10# in the first place.
Start with drinking less beer. And eating less junk food.

I think I would give just about anything to be able to eat 3 steaks per day.
Especially grass-fed steak.

I know you said you don't want to do this...
but if you head to the gym for an hour every two days, you can lose a lot of weight, tone up your entire body pretty much, and then continue to eat your usual diet. I did this method last year... and gave up after a while, but it's a big regret.
Toughest part is to force yourself to the gym.
Otherwise... there is a new book called Skinny Bast@rd that I saw at the bookstore, along the same lines as the Skinny Bitch books that the bitches find so good.

Have 4 wisdom teeth extracted. Have not had anything except shakes, soup and pudding in 10 days - excellent weight loss.

Eat leaner meat. Eat slower so you feel full with less food.

I'm nowhere near on a "man diet" of meat and beer as I find both immoral (a former boss asked if that was due to religious reasons and I said I was athiest... he said that must be one terrible religion and would never join!).
However, I would think that the same principles apply. I've been losing 3 pounds per week for 7 weeks now just by watching my portion sizes. I have made a few sacrifices... for example instead of fries with my veggieburger, I'll have a side of steamed broccoli. But I've been keeping track of the calories in and the calories out and so far so good. I'm actually going to see a dietitian tonight as I'm scared that I'm losing weight too fast... most web sites say you should never lose more than 2 per week.
What I've learned is that I can still eat pizza, still eat chocolate, still eat my homemade egg mcmuffins smothered in cheese SO LONG AS I BALANCE IT OUT THE REST OF THE WEEK AND EXERCISE REGULARLY.

I don't want to derail the thread, but why do you find Beer to be immoral?
I can probably guess why you think meat is immoral, but beer?

Switch to light beer. I was drinking pretty much 6 beer every time I went golfing, which was 3 times a week, and then on weekends I'd have another 20 or so. I switched to light beer for over a year now, and while I'm not totally sure of the results. i think I've lost a bit of weight.
Sounds like you like beer as much as me, so this would be something to try. After awhile you don't even notice it's light beer.

My Diet: Eggs, chicken, more chicken, lean beef. Eat whatever I want on the weekends (within reason, that mean watch portion sizes). Go to the gym 3x per week. The gym is pretty important in this equation. If you have not been going and then decide to go, your metabolism will love you.

The beer thing is probably more about a moral objection to alcohol as a whole than just beer.
But honestly, if you're Atheist, how are you against alcohol? I could maybe see being against alcohol abuse, or drunk driving, etc... but 1 beer?

eat 3 meals a day, try to cook them (precook lunchs if needed). and 2/3 healthy snacks inbetween (apple and yogurt. or handful of nuts and some fruit).
hold your palms out facing upwards in a cup (like to hold water). imagine your left hand cupping vegatables cooked or raw (mixed), and your right hand should imagine a chunk of meat the size of your palm (close to a deck of cards), and the remaining room in your right hand can be for of a starch (1piece of bread, small amount of pasta/rice).
I found that I was eating more food than normal this way, lost weight and felt much better.
the hand thing is just a good way to visualize proportions to your own body size

And then take those hands full of meat and veggies and ram them violently into your face while loudly saying "NOM NOM NOM" and staring challengingly at your office mates.
