What's the difference? So you shell out a few more bucks for a stick that lasts. Any other reasons?

To me, that is the only reason. I want to use my own composite or wooden stick, not a short plastic one. Every plastic stick I've ever used sucks like hell.

In all honesty, how many games are cancelled due to lack of female players not showing up or, if two must be on the floor at all times, play the entire game and become useless after 20 minutes if only 2 show?

You haven't found the right ones...the Dom sticks aren't short, in fact Kipper has an extra long one to use and he's 6'3

None that I've been a part of. If only one girl shows up, you play shorthanded the whole game. We've also had games where we had 3 girls and only 2 guys show up....so we played with all 3 girls and 1 guy on the floor or 2 and 2

Where do you get these? If I find one I like, I might check CSSC out. A few people I know already play there and I might join them if there are spots available.

Apparently if you play in the NSD league, you can use wood or composite sticks.
DOM Sticks can be bought here:

If someone is forming any sort of Sunday team then count me in. I love ball/floor hockey plus it will help me get back into shape faster for my winter league.
Please let me know.

If someone wants to play on Friday nights, post here. I'll probably be joining the Friday night GHL. It's 5 on 5.

My Superleagues team is skipping the fall/winter season due to Legacy's closure and lack of interest to play 4 on 4 at NSD. If there is a team out there that needs a sub, I'd definately be interested
The closure of Legacy is bad news for serious ball hockey players during the winter

CMpuck, I like GHL better then CSSC because of the stick restrictions.
Also, although both have the same highsticking rules, I found the GHL a little more lenient

Depends on who your GC is. The last game she told us she didn't care too much about high sticks on follow through's...others will whistle you for carrying your stick too high...so it's just like any other league with a ref

I used to play in CSSC and I used those DOM sticks but they still don't compare to the composite sticks. I haven't played in CSSC in a year now but if you want something easy going and relaxed, then go with the CSSC. But there will be teams that take it way too seriously and that was one of the reasons our team left and went to the GHL.
GHL is more competitive and a little bit more intense, but things go smoothly. I guess expectations are different, if you know what I mean.

Guess it just depends on how good your girls are.
CSSC did offer a 5 on 5 league at the Heritage Christian Academy this year. Dunno how popular it got

Yes.
Teams that use their girls do well. I was on a team last season that really didn't trust them much, so we were a horrible team.

The Dom Elite sticks, including the XT version I have can be bought at Adrenalin Source for Sports on McLeod Trail.
Dom Elite sticks have fibreglass shafts that are pretty good. They aren't the wimpy sticks you may remember using in elementary school gym class.
One important thing about sticks: There seem to be two types of blades on these sticks; one is thicker and nearly impossible to curve well unless you heat the beejeebers out of it, and the other is thinner. Get the thinner one- much easier to get a nice, smooth curve.
