Okay , I've got one for you.

I can log on from my BlackBerry.

I can log on from my Wii which is connected wirelessly to the same router my PC uses to access the net.

But I can't get any CP pages to load on my PC at all. If I try a ping or tracert for any IP other than localhost or my gateway I get a general failure error even though I can load any page I want other than CP.

My Wii and my PC seem to share the same IP but one will load CP and the other will not.
Any ideas out there?

Note: this has only been happening this weekend so I was wondering if it may have something to do with the server move...

It might say in the browser window what it's stuck on, i.e. casalemedia or the weather widget or something like that.

Likely your computer has the IP address of the forum cached. Do a "ipconfig /flushdns" and/or a reboot.

Weird, can't imagine what it might be.. The only thing that's change is the IP address so I can see where cookies might be confused or something potential like that, but nothing else has changed. It could just be the ad server acting up at the same time by coincidence.

When the page is hung it should say at the bottom of the browser what server it's waiting on.

So, I installed Firefox, now I can load the site on my PC. It's pretty slow, taking 20-30 seconds to load pages on the site, but of course is much faster than IE on other sites.

In IE i get a slowly increasing green progress bar for about4-5 minutes, then an error.

CP is the only site giving me problems in either IE or Firefox. I think my problem with ping and tracert "may" be unrelated since that problem relates to everything outside my home network.

It certainly is an interesting conundrum. I'll just have to bite the bullet and get used to Firefox I guess.

Photon,

I tried getting a screenprint to throw in here, and am having the same issue as a few other posters. It gets hung up, just showing maybe the first post of a thread, then just kind of sits there. When it's hung up it says it's waiting on calgarypuck.dreamhosters.com. Hope that helps.

Now even firefox seems to be failing me. I've been staring at a blank screen for about 5 minutes now.

Luckily, the BlackBerry browser is having no problems at all so I can complain from my phone.

So, I dropped in to the office to get a bit of work done, and from here I can browse CP no problem, as fast as ever using IE8. (Which is what's on the home PC as well)

It's so strange that only one of my computers would act up. And that one is only having problems with this site. It must be a Vista thing somehow. It's the only thing I can think of since we run XP Pro at work, and there are no M$oft products in the Wii or BlackBerry.

Is everybody else posting in this thread with problems running Vista as well?

right now I actually cannot use the site, (using firefox)

it took like 10-20 minutes to load this page to post about how slow this site has been since the server change.

Pages dont load, load partially, but have not fully loaded yet, its such a pain I actually am not using this site till its fixed again (why bother when I can't read the discussions?)

Not trying to be whiny or annoying but just trying to let you guys know there is a problem.

I am currently using a proxy at work and I can access this site fine. At home though this morning I have the same issue as observed by others on multiple computers.

I'm using Shaw at home. I wonder if there is some routing issue between Shaw and the new provider? Is it just a certain IP space within Shaw's subscriber listing that is having this issue? I know that I have a kind of weird IP I've never seen before with Shaw at my new place (17x.x.x.x)...

What ISP are all you guys that have problems on?

I'm using Shaw at the moment.

http://calgarypuck.dreamhosters.com/v374/header.png

That's the site we use to host all the small images for the site at the moment, try just that link and see if it pops up right away or if there's a long delay (Shift-F5 forces it to get the image).

http://forum.calgarypuck.com/galaxy.jpg

Right click and save that image and see what kind of transfer speeds you get.

Also for those who have problems if you use the link above (no images, no ads), do you still get delays?

The site is plenty fast for me on Telus and Shaw. I've tested on Windows XP and the Mac using IE7, IE8, Safari, and Firefox. If there are slowness issues, I really don't think that they are a server issue.

I would suggest dumping your browser cache and potentially rebooting. Also try that archive link that Photon posted and let us know the results.

At work today and its pretty fast actually.

Last night it was starting to work on IE for me though after resetting it

Not sure if it's the same problem, but I couldn't get on Facebook last night from one of my computers, so I installed Google Chrome on it and deleted my entire browsing history, cookies, saved passwords, and it worked fine after that.

I've been having issues off and on from home and I thought I was the only one! Right now has been the first time that I've been able to connect reliably (although I haven't been trying constantly all day).

Anyways, the last message that appears at the bottom of the browser is usually calgarypuck.dreamhosters.com. This morning, it was taking 20 minutes or longer for pages to load. I actually wanted to reply to this thread at 9 am but it just wouldn't load fully.

Edit: It's been happening to me off and on all weekend and maybe before. I can't remember if it was only after the server move or if it was happening before. It's been annoying and I'm not sure what's causing it. Didn't matter what browser or what computer. For testing purposes, I fired up a computer that I rarely use and tried Internet Explorer (which I use even less) and I was still encountering issues. So I don't think it's browser cache or type of browser. Either I have to reboot my router or something because I can't figure out what would be causing this. I'm using Shaw, by the way.
