The thing about dogs is that they sometimes f-off without realizing that they're in serious danger. Obviously, puppies are the worst. But even adult dogs will take off to explore and play and can easily get lost.
I wouldn't be surprised if the media coverage of this ends up finding it's way to it's true owner.
And then what? That'd be harsh for both the guy that rescued the dog and the original owner. Whose dog is it now?
