Default Creatine Tablets

So I was wondering if any of you fitness buffs have ever tried creatine?

Inspired by the best way to get in shape thread, Im starting a new workout plan in september to gain muscle mass. My fitness level is already great but I would like to fill out a little more does anyone have any experience with Creatine? Im also planning protein shakes but from my understanding, creatine is the step down from steroids.... so i ask is it dangerous to use these?

Any advice would be great thanks!

I used to creatine twice and it pretty much doubled my bicep muscle mass (wasnt much to begin with). It basically fills your muscles with water... fake muscle. Then if you discontinue use and weight lifting, it will turn to fat basically. Not worth it.
Also is well known to cause liver and kidney problems. Definitely not worth it.

Whey Protein is absolutely the way to go. A shake after the work out and your laughing.

C-Life is talking a lot of hogwash.

Papi, the pills are discussed in that thread, and creatine in general is discussed as well. Rather than get into a flame war with C-Life, I can only recommend you check out the comments/reviews of the pills in that thread.

Edit- But I would like to see these studies C-Life is referring to regarding the potential serious health risks regarding creatine. I've asked before, but have yet to see any studies.

Creatine before the workout and then a protein shake with glutamine powder afterwards and you can become a super stud like me

You shouldn't use creatine if you're trying to get ripped though, right?

I think this is a pretty good explanation and unbiased opinion of creatine:

All this coming from an Oilers fan possibly using creatine. lol.... so thats your logic? There's no studies on it so its not harmful? Alright.
Go ahead and use it I dont care. It has been well documented that it causes problems in some, maybe not all, but theres always risks.

Creatine also assists in ATP production which gives you that little bit of energy at the end. Really helps to do those last ones that jack ur muscles up.

Why not build your muscles with what it needs; protein. Creatine gives you additional energy which is nice but it is pretty close to a steroid because of that fact.
Whether or not the "filling them with water" is an old rumour or not I dont know. Im no pro on the subject. All I say is be careful with creatine. Whey protein is the healthier choice.

What the hell does me being an Oilers fan have to do with anything? Jesus.

Show me these studies. Pretty simple request.

I've always used:
2 scoops of chocolate flavored powder
1/2 large frozen banana
some plain yogurt
milk

I prefer it to real ice cream milkshakes, sometimes I think it's a problem that it tastes so good...

What I normally have after a workout:

2 cups of frozen fruit
1 banana
2 scoops of unsweetened protein powder
cover with whole milk and blend

Or you could just eat a proper diet and get ALL the protein that you need.

6 small meals a day, hi in fiber and protein. The human body can only process about 130g of protein a day, anything more and its a waste. So a proper diet and you get more than you need.

Shakes are a waste of money if you eat properly. If you are on the go and arent getting enough meals and protein, then absolutely hit the shake once a day. But if you are able to eat properly this will allow you to control all that your body ingests and processes. Also, you will find you have much more energy before and after workouts with a proper diet.

You see when I read something like this it makes me skeptical of what else you've written in your post. How can it be standard across humans that they can only process 130g of protein a day?

You're telling me that a 100 pound women can process the same maximum amount of protein as a 300 pound weightlifter? That's completely illogical to me.

Interesting study which shows no negative symptoms or at least doesn't talk about them. No surprise that the vegetarians responded more readily to the creatine since they aren't getting enough through eating meat in the first place. I'll just stick to eating meat.

No offense C-Life, but your posts are FULL of BS. Please do some research before spouting that nonsense.

Creatine isn't remotley close to a steroid. The fact that you think it is, shows how little you really know about it.

Given this logic, you could say coffee is basically a steroid because it gives you energy. Fail.

Yup, muscle cells will turn into fat cells. Just like lead turns into gold. Or wait....

I suppose you got this information from the same person who told you that carbs are as vital to repairing muscle tissue as protein is?

Because its not true. At all. Not even 1% true.

Hell, its flatout stupid to assume that there is a set amount of protein that all 6 billion human beings on the planet are supposed to get each day. Nevermind genetics, hormones, different weights, different genders, different body types....etc, etc.

You should stick with what you know then.

Creatine is notorious for making you gain water weight because the muscles end up retaining more water.

What is with all these people making driveby comments that aren't true? Geez.

don't touch creatine unless you're interested in kidney stones and lots of them.
