Oh yeah totally. Because a registered gun owner has never used a legally purchased gun in any crimes or murders or anything!
|
Oh, well plenty of so-called law abiding people have committed violent crimes without guns as well.

Unfortunately, my friend, you are the one with flawed logic. You sound like a 10 year old. "Screw you mom, I can do whatever I want, it's a free country!"
|
Because I can do whatever I want....provided it is within the law.
And making a law that bans people from going to the range and shooting a bunch of targets twice a week is stupid, and it will never get passed.
I don't judge people for doing things I don't agree with. As long as they are within the law, how can I judge?
The 'holier than thou' attitude against guns is a bit ridiculous.
Especially when numerous people have already pointed out that while guns can be indeed used to kill people, they aren't for the most part. And yet, for some reason that is still a problem.

You know, I don't necessarily agree with carrying a gun like that in public either, but the guy is trying to make a statement for his rights at the rally. If you watch this 1-minute video interview with him, you will notice that not one of the other people in attendance appear to be bothered or uncomfortable by him carrying the gun. They are all in close proximity and it is no big deal. It looks like everyone is having a good time actually. To me, the media just took this and spun it way out of proportion.
Quit watching Rambo and applying that image to your typical gun owner.

Fine, stereotype me as well, then. I support the all or none version of a law. Either it applies, or it doesn't.
Perhaps you enjoy the sight of lawyers haggling over the extent to which you're entitled to a given right, but I don't.

Again, the problem is that guns are designed to kill.
Do you understand why people think that it may be a bad idea to allow people to openly carry around weapons that are designed to kill?

No, I don't see the problem at all.
Saying guns are 'designed to kill'....is a very vague definition of what guns actually do. What if they kill someone in self defense? What if they kill someone accidentally? What if they kill deer that puts food on your table?
And what if....despite being 'designed to kill'....they're not really used that way, and instead, the majority of the people who own guns are target shooters. Which they are, BTW.

It's also legal in Arizona to own one dildo. However owning two is illegal. So I assume you own a dildo, since it's within your rights!?

There is nothing in the constitution that says anything about the right to bear dildos.

You can assume two things:
1.) I am not a kiddo, so no need to be condescending.
2.) I don't live in Arizona, so the 'dildo law' doesn't apply to me

Check the stats...............it is pretty rare. The vast majority of guns used in crime are illegally acquired.
http://www.publicsafety.gc.ca/media/...116-2-eng.aspx
Quote;
Crime Statistics - There are nearly 7 million registered long-guns in Canada. Yet of 2,441 homicides recorded in Canada since mandatory long-gun registration was introduced in 2003, fewer than 2 percent (47) were committed with rifles and shotguns known to have been registered. (Canadian Centre for Justice Statistics).
- Illegal smuggling by organized crime is by far the principal source of firearms on our streets. Indeed, the Vancouver police report that 97 percent of firearms seized in 2003 were illegal guns smuggled in from the United States, usually by organized crime (Vancouver Police, Strategic Plan 2004-08

LOL. Yeah those 47 murders are nothing! Who cares about those 47 murders, they are insignificant! Tell that to the families of the deceased.
I'm actually very surprised at high how high that number is, especially being in Canada. I'd love to see how the American numbers compare.

Well, I would say that 47 homicides out of 7 million long guns since 2003 is a pretty good rate.
I wonder how many people have died since 2003 from just playing recreation sports? Dangeous I tells ya.......

I was going to suggest Azure is beginning to sound like a Freeman on the land with his "its a frickin' free country, and I can do whatever the hell I want as long as it doesn't harm anyone else", but yeah, a 10 year old is a decent enough analogy.

Thanks Mikey! You just provided the clearest explanation as to why Canadians are so concerned about how easy it is for anyone to buy a gun in the US. Even legally purchased weapons bought in the US can be illegally smuggled into Canada.
