Alice In Chains news, for those of us interested
http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/152...23/story.jhtml
Looks like things will be happening. The amount of respect for Layne's legacy and his part in AIC is staggering and very welcome. I'm someone who would welcome some new stuff, but I don't want to see Staley replaced. Seems like Jerry, Sean and Mike feel the same way.
It's going to be a good year for music!

I am loving the new single, "Check My Brain". Finally, something on the radio that doesnt sound like TheoryofANickelFault.
I know AIC isn't for everyone. What does everyone think of this song?

Kinney said Alice in Chains had been approached by the producers of "Rock Star" for the reality show's second season. They turned the offer down.

Seems like they are doing everything the right way, respecting the legacy of Layne and their old work. I've only heard one of the new songs but it exceeded my expectations. As long as they are making genuine music and not going for cash grabs based on their name, I'll be pretty interested to hear what they come up with.

I've mentioned it before, but any Alice in Chains fan needs to own Jerry Cantrell's Degradation Trip double album.
Very excited about the new album.

Are you missing the green text?
That show was a joke, along with the bands on it. Nothing more than an attempt at some easy publicity and a quick cash grab. All the contestants on the show look like they read "generic Rock Star for dummies" and went on the show.

So far, I've only heard "A Looking in View". Like it very much. 7 minute debut single on a comback album is pretty ballsy.
I'll have the rest of the thing as soon as I get iTunes working correctly and I will by the CD as well.
I'm anxiously awaiting the announcement of a Wichita show. The likely venue is a half mile from my house and very, very small. If things go as planned I will have seen AIC twice, in very 'intimate' settings. Can't wait.

When it was played on the radio, it was stressed that A Looking In View wasn't actually a single. I think they did have a free download of one of their songs from their website a few months ago; maybe that was the one.

Thats good news. AIC is definately one of my favorites, Layne was a hell of a singer he could really belt it.

Heard the new AIC, sounds ok. Might be one of those things where you have to listen to it a few times to start liking it.

I don't mind them re-grouping, but they should call themselves something else. I cringe when I see Queen going on without Freddie and John.

Same primary songwriter (Cantrell) and the new singer is very similar, I don't really have a problem with it. AC/DC worked with Bon Scott and Brian Johnson after him.

for bands with as unique singers as Queen, i agree. but AIC didn't have such recognizable vocals, and the new singer does the job quite well. i like the new album

Got it on the way home. Unfortunately, the first episode of Dexter on DVR has pre-empted my initial listen!

Alice in Chains will be on Jimmy Kimmel Live, airing tonight and tomorrow night for those interested.
Still haven't had the chance to spin the disc. I'm so lame.
