Did you take the pic?
Yes, our back yard.

I opened the door and went out but had the door open behind me as momma was circling about 30 feet away . . . . and blasted a few flash shots.

I had both cubs seriously crying a couple of nights later outside my window - wah, wah, wah - when I was lying in bed giggling. I had put some plastic stuff around the trunk of the tree so they couldn't climb it . . . . they were seriously breaking all the branches and destroying the tree. But the tears were mine in the end when they finally ripped the stuff off and climbed it anyway. Fortunately, the trees are recovering.

But that was the point of the original post . . . . protect the trees and worry about the poop as an afterthought. The poop disappears into the grass soon enough anyway. Except bear poop. That's a lot of shovelling.

Actually, deer feces needs to be picked up with gloves or plastic bags. Deer have been known to carry hanta virus which can transmitted to humans if they touch the droppings.

I will stand corrected if true. I could only find reference to hantavirus in deer mice not in deer.

Animal feces can transmit many bacteria and viruses. If possible, it's always best just to leave it to nature to decompose. Your chances of catching something increase substantially when you start handling the stuff, gloves or not.

I live in the Priddis area and I suspect they were told to be wise about what they left outside around their yard. As to not being allowed to have a garden, total nonsense.

However, I can no longer compost as Mr. Bear was coming every night to see what I had left him for a midnight snack.

Well, if it was my regular household vacuum, I'd agree with you. But I will use my little shop vac which I don't care so much about and I can easily dump out into a garbage bag.

Figure out where they sleep, and go poop there sometime when they're not around. See how they like it.
