The 70,000 refers to the numbers of people stuck on Deerfoot as it turns into a giant parking lot thanks to this silly mall with no means to get there other than personal car.
Airdrie residents will love this mall even more when they can't get back home.
Remind me to stay away from the mall for a good 3 months.

70,000 people trying to access a mall that basically has one access - a two lane road that features a bridge over highway 2 designed to handle about 500 cars a day.
Simply put, this is not going to go well.
They should have twinned the 566 while the mall was being constructed, though with both Stoney Trail and Yankee Valley Blvd being built and rebuilt respectively, that entire corridor is enough of a fustercluck as it is.

Too bad the Yankee valley underpass is not finished yet. Luckily I work north of the city, and you can get to Cross Iron Mills from Airdrie without having to use the #2.
It will still be a PITA.
