Video outlining what is in the demo is now out...
I won't spoil it for y'all, but as far as demos go, this one seems impressive! EA almost put too much into it, perhaps! It will definitely whet our palates until the actual game release!

A tutorial of the new features, create a player, the prospects' game (one period perhaps) and Battle for the Cup Game 7 (video shows the first two periods being simmed).

Looks like you choose to either:
1) Create a player, take him through a skills challenge, play the prospects game, get drafted
or
2) take to the ice as either the pens or the wings in game 7 of the new playoff mode

In a hilarious display of internet geek rage, the NHL team for some reason always seemed to announce the date of the demo release only to have the demo get held up at microsoft or sony forcing a delay of a week or two. The boiling rage that overtook the internets because of this was impressive. It wasn't EA's fault, but they took the brunt of it. However ... they kept doing it. They did it in 07, 08 and 09. Each year they'd announce the demo and I'd think to myself "why the hell don't they just announce it when it's actually live?". I suppose that's what they are doing now.

Is it free? I remember seeing the playstation store I believe when I go to internet on my ps3. I think it goes directly to that page. Is that correct?

Yes, that is where you'll go. Updates for the PS3 are generally on Thursday evenings around 6 pm our time. That is of course if it comes out this week. According to their twitter they are hoping it comes out sometime this week.
