Default August 21 is Avatar day

Is there a more hyped movie than James Camerons Avatar? Is it going to live up to the hype or be a huge bust.

August 21 they are showing 15 minutes for free at all imax and 3d theaters.

If watching Terminator taught me anything, it is to trust James Cameron. I think this could be a TDK killer.

I thought this thread would be about having to establish an avatar for this message board by August 21.

The only way Avatar kills TDK is if Jim Cameron dies before the movie is released.

Looking forward to this. A friend from high school is in New Zealand working on this movie ... so jealous sometimes!

If Titanic has taught me anything, it's that "can I draw you?" is the best pickup line if you want to nail a chick in the backseat of a Model T.

Apparently the footage that has been released at ComicCon looks amazing. My friend from high school has been down in NZ working on this film for years.

Wow I can't believe I am the first to say but "If Aliens taught me anything, it is to trust James Cameron".

Besides Cameron being god at making movies, he is also Canadian!

Bump.

So today is the day that you can send in requests to have your name added to a list for preview screenings of 15 minutes of footage of "Avatar"... Calgary is one of the 3 Canadian cities that will host screenings (on the Chinook theatre IMAX screen, showing twice, at 6:15 and 7:15pm on Friday night only). Anyone trying to get in to this?

Bit of a clusterfata over at avatarmovie.com and foxfilm.com to submit a request. Servers obviously hammered. I have causually been following this movie for a last few months - nothing too much going on until recently; seems like it is really kicking into high gear now. Apparently Fox will be rolling out a full-scale marketing campaign to coincide with these free preview screenings. A trailer will be released at the same time... I am intrigued. Hard not to be - when the director's last feature film was 12 years ago and proved to be the most financially successful movie of all time, one can't help but be ultra curious what the follow-up will look like. Does it have a shot at living up to expectations and what is shaping up to be an enormous juggernaut of hype?

All this time I thought this was a movie about that stupid cartoon my sisters watch. Apparently they have the same name, but this movie has nothing to do with it. I still dont know exactly what it is though.
