Haha nice post.........but I still don't agree with the tactic at all. You could have signed a whole bunch of dmen that you really needed.

Definitely a unique strategy, based on my count only 4 cphl teams need a backup and some of those were rebuilding so not sure how interested they are in trading for one. Also, a couple other teams seem to have an extra goalie so you do have some competition for trading them!
I'm just happy I have a backup at this point. Are any more avail on the UFA market?

What you meant to say is Sanford and Gerber will be joining Carolina soon.

Actually 5 teams need backups, Avs roster didn't load properly. Avs, Flames, Bruins, Lightning, Capitals. The Rangers want to upgrade and other teams might need a backup soon (FLA) so that adds to the potential teams in the goalie market.

If olaf Kolzig does retire, I'll just be going with one of those 50 OV crappy goalies that makes no $ for the time being as Toskala should be able to play most of the games.

Ya, I don't understand this at all...if no one trades for them, Doug is wasting alot of space.
Oh well I just wanted a 3rd stringer, you can have Labarbera for $6 million

The thing with those 50ov goalies is that Toskala doesn't get the proper rest and plays in way too many games.... how many games do you throw away like this

sure thing, 10.75 on 5 active NHL goalies is wasting cap. I haven't added the numbers but I would bet I would be below half when it comes to cap hits for the position
the fact of the matter, outside my starter (who has a grid contract), my backups are DIRT cheap and could fit into any team in this league regardless of their teams cap situation

I was surprised at that as well, until I checked out the numbers for the other 65ov guys. funny how much of a difference 66ov and 65ov is when you look at the names

Ya exactly... a guy who would have been a servicable backup is stuck in the minors as an insurance policy cuz of an overpayment. I don't know if I should tip my hat for a shrewd move or strangle Doug
