Running full-out in ideal conditions and against the toughest competition possible for the first time in his 22 years, Bolt blew away his own world record by a massive .11 seconds and made Gay seem like a laggard despite setting a U.S. record of 9.71 seconds.
It was the biggest increase in the record since electronic time was introduced in 1968.

Has there ever been a more appropriately named athlete? He's really fast.

Incredible time. Is he going to do the 200 M also? I wonder how much technology in shoes and track surface over the years has helped in breaking records.
Usain was hilarious on Top Gear - the story about him eating McNuggets, napping, and eating more nuggets before the Gold Medal in Beijing was hilarious.
I don't necessarily think he's on drugs, but I do think he should be voluntarily submitting to a whole schwack of testing, hell, on a weekly basis to keep the record clean. Freeze sample for future testing too.
It's a sad truth to modern athletics, but I think it has to be done. I can't cheer Lance or any other cyclist in the TDF or UCI without wanting to see a doping report 1st.

Its the staggering amount of time he has sliced off the world record though...and last year it was only 1/2 trying. At least this time he ran for almost the whole 100m!
When a guy is suddenly this much faster than the other incredibly fast guys it makes me wonder. I have a hard time thinking that his training and equipment is that much better than the other guys...and in some ways its a sad comment on the world we live in.
It is pretty unfortunate, but I thought the same thing as Slava did. With the amount of training and technology utilized by every athlete these days, it's hard to trust anyone who blows the competition away by so much. He could be clean of course, and I hope he is, but there's always the skeptical part of me that's waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Not comparing the two athletes, but i'm pretty sure Joffrey Reynolds, the RB for the Stamps, and one of the best RB in the league, eats a bag of Wendys before every game. I actually saw him once in the parking lot before a game get out of his car with a bag and walk into the admin offices.
Some people are just genetically gifted. Bailey in Atlanta, Bolt, etc. Its too bad baseball and its dodgyness has ruined sports for everyone else.

Darren Rovell of CNBC is patting himself on the back right now. He figured Bolt pulled up in the Olympics so he could break his own record later and cash in on more endorsements and other financial opportunities. From his twitter account (@darrenrovell1):

I was criticized when I said Bolt showboated in Beijing 2 save bonus money 4 future. He earned $100K more 4 WR yesterday.
