For better or for worse, this thread has enforced why the rest of Canada thinks about Albertans like they do.

That socialism is bad, and that the NDP would utterly destroy Canada's economy?

Can't say I'm disappointed with that.

I think most Albertans are quite comfortable with group think and a lack of introspection. Just look at our provincial voting record and the number of different governments we have had over the years. Stelmach good, everyone else bad.

You obviously aren't on the pulse of Alberta politics around the city.

Nope. Conservatives good. Everyone else bad.

Alberta has done quite well under the Conservative party for the last 38 years.
The same can't be said for BC while under the yoke (or should I say joke) of NDP governments.

Or, perhaps, the Liberals have been led for decades by incompetents who couldn't inspire a drowning man to swim to shore, while the NDP's goals and policies are anathema to the populace?

I've never understood people like you (by "you" I mean the majority of the posters in this thread). Why do you guys care about the political affiliations of somebody that has little impact in your life? I've know democrats, republicans, conservatives, wild rosers, and NDP ... All fine people.

Secondly, I kind of thought ference being an NDP supporter was commen knowledge. Did anybody actually think he was a conservative, or are you just looking for a reason to whine?

Well Manitoba is expected to have a 0.8% increase in GDP this year, while Alberta is expected to have a loss of 2.7%, but point taken, it is important to know what is good and what is bad, it is a black and white world.

I suspect you are taking this thread a little more seriously than everyone else is (or was), Russic.

The "We now hate Ference" bit is a joke.

Though it didn't take long for the political minority in Alberta to chime in with the "everybody in this province is stupid except for me" attitude.

Please, the Tories will win the lions share of Calgary seats next election, they may get "sent a message" in Glenmore in the by-election, but when push comes to shove in an election that matters, Calgarians know the way they have to vote.

That has more to do with ridiculous policies by the Conservatives than it has to do with a socialist party platform.

And you damn well know it.

Yeah, you sound nothing like an arrogant ass when you say that.

Fact - The Stelmach government screwed the pooch big time with their changes to the royalty structure.

If you would actually bother to read any of the reports being released over the past year, you'd notice that oil/gas investments are all heading towards Sask/Man because according to those oil/gas companies, there is more incentive there for them to invest.

Please, I think your underestimating the WRA with the right leader. The more time goes on the true Conservatives in Southern Alberta appear to be feeling 'left out'. But whatever, go smoke a joint and hug a tree or something hippie.

Oh, and for what it is worth, I would define myself as firmly planted in the centre.
