Default Spring/Summer: Never really happened

The weather this Spring/Summer has been the worst, in the 7 years since I moved back here. Even 2005 with the june floods was rescued by July & August.

Spent about 30 min. on Environment Canada's site going through the historical data for this year. 19 "nice days" out of 105.

My criteria for a "nice day" is:
-temps above 20 Deg,
-No rain,
-Clear & Sunny skies
-wind must below 20 Kmh.

May 2009:
Days 25 deg. or higher without rain = 2
Days w/ winds over 30 Kmh = 22
Days 15 Deg. or lower = 13
Days w/ rain total 2mm or greater = 1
Days w/ low temps below 0 (frost) = 12
"Nice" Days ============== 4

June 2009:
Days 25 deg. or higher without rain = 2
Days w/ winds over 30 Kmh = 21
Days 15 Deg. or lower = 9
Days w/ rain total 2mm or greater = 6
Days w/ low temps below 0 (frost) = 4
"Nice" Days ============== 4

July 2009:
Days 25 deg. or higher without rain = 9
Days w/ winds over 30 Kmh = 20
Days 15 Deg. or lower = 2
Days w/ rain total 2mm or greater = 19
Days w/ low temps below 0 (frost) = 0
"Nice" Days ============== 8

August 2009: (to date, Aug 13)
Days 25 deg. or higher without rain = 2
Days w/ winds over 30 Kmh = 4
Days 15 Deg. or lower = 4
Days w/ rain total 2mm or greater = 5
Days w/ low temps below 0 (frost) = 0
"Nice" Days ============== 3

...............................19

*I'm sure many will say the wind issue should not be included but oh well, I can handle windy conditions when I'm at the ocean, not when I'm relaxing in the back yard.

Although this spring & summer have been greatly lacking, Any who suggest I move back to where I came from... (Vancouver,BC).....Don't.

Haha, you really are bored eh?

There seemed like a lot better days than 19. Probably clear and sunny narrowed it down a lot. If there's some clouds like thinly partly cloudy it's still a good day for me.

But..........what happened to global warming?

You are right, the past 2 summers in particular have been fairly mild. I don't complain however, because I have no A/C at my place.

I saw a story the other day that July was the 2nd hottest July on record in other parts of North America (ex. BC, Pacific Northwest).

Hottest July ever in AZ:

Illinois had coldest July since 1924:

It's not global warming anymore, it's "Climate Change".

This was my first summer in Calgary after living in Iowa, Philly and Boston over the past 11 years. I've been loving Calgary weather. Way better than Iowa, where you can't go outside in July or August. Way better than muggy, smelly Philadelphia. Way better than rain every day in Boston.

Calgary weather kicks ass.

When we get some snow here in the summer, your tune might change.

You should move back to Vancouver. We had at least 19 nice days in the last 3 and half weeks.

Not to be insensitive or anything but your province is burning down. It has been an awful summer in BC. You should be sacrificing cows and goats and chickens for rain.

I am a born and raised Calgarian and I love our weather. Especially the thunderstorms in the summer and chinooks in the winter!

Personally, I wouldn't call +30 days "nice days." I would call them "too hot days."

There are a FEW exceptions as to when you want a day over 30.

All I can say is we'd better have an amazing fall like last year. No significant 'winter' weather until November.

I remember years with close to -20 and snow in September. I guess I'm alright with this if it's sunny and pleasant until November.

You just totally jogged my memory...I'm pretty sure I had a dream last night where I woke up and there was 3ft of snow on the ground. Horrible!

Also, I'm not really a fan of Calgary weather. It's much too cold here for me. I enjoy 30+ degrees and really wish May, June, July and August were like that. If that were the case, we'd all have AC and it wouldn't be a big deal and we'd all have tons of fun and there would probably be a lot of outdoor pools and girls in skirts.

As long as we get to about -10 for all of November (hunting season), them I'm cool with having a nice warm fall.

According to the news Calgary averages 4-5 days a year of 30 degrees or more.
