NHL 10 is starting to sound really lame with these "power ups" being provided. Things seemed to work pretty well with the cards, at least it kept people fairly even.

I am definitely pre-ordering this game then if I can get a 9 point boost for my EASHL player.

It is a really slimeball move and complete BS, but I would rather have it, then not have it and complain about all the people who have it.

Gamestop owns EB, so I am sure EB has the same promo. Because I don't know whether Canada has any Gamestops.

I hope the powerups are like "Gain 1 point in speed and lose 1 in acceleration when using these skates" not like "Gain 20 points in acceleration and speed when wearing this toque". If they make sense, and the money required to buy something is hard to get then it's not a bad idea, but if it's like Tiger Wood, it'll be ridiculous.

It will be like Tiger Woods, ridiculous. Although I don't get what the DLC is exactly? Like $1 for 2 more points, or what? If that is the case, that is stupid. They should stay with the cards like 09.

I probably have more friends than you in real life and on the PSN.

Anyways, players who glitch are so easy to defend against. Two words for you.... MANUAL-GOALIE. Also, my EASHL team ranking was around 126~ before it disbanded. Now it's not fun anymore making a team and playing with random noobs who don't want to pass and just try for glitches on their own to boost their stats up.

I know what you mean. I hate playing EASHL with randoms. My record is like 60-130, most of the those losses coming when I play with randoms. Most wins are when I play with friends. There are so many people who try and do everything there selves and I hate it because everyone wants the goal. No one ever passes, we can be on a 2-1, if he passes to me, it is the net, but for some idiotic reason he tries to deke around the defenceman and loses it, or shoots it at the goalie.

Playing defence is even worse. Every 2-3 shots I let go from the point are goals, because my slap shot power and accuracy is so deadly, but I NEVER get any passes. It is hilarious when I will score 2 goals on 2 shots, and they still won't pass it to me.

There is no way for EA to fix this, because it isn't their fault, it is just the way the game is played, which sucks sadly.

Well, I checked ebgames.com and they have this, which you posted, says:

Wow that Madden DLC is absolute garbage! I usually stick up for DLC but that is taking it too far. Hopefully most feel the same and they don't sell much of it. I'm saddened to see the NHL folks doing similar crap. I understand it's nowhere near as bad (and it isn't technically dlc), but I still don't like it.

Of note the 9 point stat pretty much just unlocks your first card right away, so in the end everyone ends up with the same point pool if you play enough games. So basically the pre order is for Kane's equipment.

It makes sense when you think about it. When you pre-order, you give EA (and EB) a head start on getting paid... and they give you a head start on your stats. However, at the end of the day, they're both going to still get paid anyway and everyone else is still going to get those same stats anyway.

A good argument. I just hope this isn't a slippery slope to what Madden is doing. I think this year they should have just included official Patrick Kane Old Man Punching Gloves and left it at that.

edit: and I think with xbox announcing you can download full games you are going to see more of this (specials for pre-buy or to even buy at a specific store) to get people to buy the actual game

So is the 9 point boost just a head start, which was speculated, or is it an additional 9 points you get? Like if we both have our legend cards, I still have 9 more points because I pre-ordered, or what. I hope it is just a head start.
