Thanks for all the ideas folks. In particular, can anyone suggest good places to stay in Halifax? It's neat that there are more B&Bs there than hotels
Sorry, this question can probably be answered by out of town more than me, I tend to always stay at my house. It has good reviews and amazingly all my stuff fits in it nicely. However there is curently no vacancy.

You could see Joe, Bob, Fred, or John! They all live out there.

Hopewell Rocks are definitely worth a visit if you have the time. There's just something awe-inspiring about walking on the ocean floor in the morning and then kayaking in the exact same place that afternoon. Plus the caves and rocks are actually quite something to behold. The Reversing Falls in Saint John are okay, though probably not exactly what they sound like. It takes a few hours for the tide to actually reverse, but there's a great restaurant there, and lots of new lookout points and a walking trail (Harbour Passage) that takes you along the harbour to the uptown area, where there's the City Market and lots of inner-city parks. There's also Harbour Station, former home of the Saint John Flames, though I doubt anything will be happening when you're there; if anything, there might be a QMJHL game. My biased and narrow $0.02

x2 for a donair, Father's Moustache, and the Lower Deck. They tried a Lower Deck in Ottawa and it just didn't cut it.

2004 was my grad year. I used to work at Orwell Corner Historical villiage in the stupid dresses and hair and everything. Worst summer job and best summer job all at the same time. Way too hot in the dress but I like farm animals in the non perversion way and Céilidhs.

I spent almost every summer camping at lord selkirk with my family. probably my favorite golf course on the island too.

I have nothing to add except that as a born and raised Albertan, I absolutely love the maritimes and Halifax in particular. I've been there 4 times for varying lengths of time and always had a blast. It seems like the people there are more friendly than anywhere else I've been in the country. That said, I haven't yet visited PEI or Newfoundland and so badly want to but the opportunity hasn't presented itself. Someday...

1 more important question
If I'm in Halifax on Oct 16th, the Flames play the Canucks
Assuming that it's aired on Center Ice or something, where do people in Halifax watch Flames games?

Bubba Rays - it's a sports bar with alot of plazmas/LCDs and good wings. If you want fellow CP company I'd meet up for a couple beer during the game.

Another option is at my house! Seriously, I have cold beer, snacks and Center Ice.

I'll see what the gf thinks, but thanks for the offer

Hopefully Maritimers don't care too much about me wearing my Flames Jersey

Super funny story about Doug:

So I am in highschool, my fathers a PAOC minister and I am drunk and stoned in Montague with my boyfriend, best friend and three other guys.
We are doing the montague thing parking in the superstore parking lot on mainstreet and drinking in trucks and cars. (don't judge there is not much to do in montague.)
anywho,
who is pulling a shift in montague that night but doug lee. who pulls up and finds me in a truck with open booze, pot, and im only 15 or 16. I know that he looks fimiliar but I dont know who he is.
My stupid boyfriend gives him a really hard time, being a complete drunk ass, nearly gets arrested and they push him to the ground, and hes STILL mouthing off.
Everyone goes home the night tapers off. The next night my parents tell me that we have company coming over from dinner.
Who walks in the door but the same cop that nearly arrested my boyfriend the night before and he is there with me. I looked at him as if to tell him don't say a word and he looks at doug lee and says, "Hey where do I know you from?"
Idiot.
Needless to say, not the most fun experience for a teenager whose trying to not get caught!
and teenagers wonder why parents don't trust them.
i know my daughter will never do anything like that, (obvious sarcasim)
