Default Anyone Twitter?

I just started this twitter thing and don't seem to have much use for it. I don't have a cell that lets me send messages when I'm out, so that huge part of it is not useful for me. I've turned my account into a celebrity watching account of sorts, following lots of people like Paris Hilton, John Mayer, and P.Diddy / Puffy / Sean type people. I have less than NO love for these people, but it's funny what they say in their day to day lives. Most of it is stupid, which to me is funny.

Today twitter got hacked and everyone is freaking out about it, and started posting about it once it was over, which I thought was useless, but again, funny.

I have an account, but I don't really post. It's mostly just like yours, watching famous people I like and seeing what they have to say day to day. The only updates I get to my phone are Kevin Smith and some hockey related ones

I subscribe to Calgary Citybeat, Rob Kerr, Flames, a couple other news ones, some other sports ones, TSN. I find it to be pretty awesome for that I have it on my phone I pop it open every now and then and get updated, I don't really use to keep in touch with friends.

http://status.twitter.com/

It was, allegedly, a Denial of Service (DOS) attack that brought twitter to its knees.

Other useful accounts to follow:
@CalgaryCommute - Calgary traffic updates
@660NewsTraffic - ditto
@calgarypolice - their latest tweet was a link to photo radar locations for August
@CobraCommander - tipssssssss and trickssssssssssss for world domination

I use it to get news and sports updates primarily. I don't subscribe to a newspaper, and I don't always watch or listen to the news on TV/radio, so it is actually really good for that. I stay away from the celebrities and people I have no interest in hearing from.

Looking at your sig made me wonder if Karl Pilkiington twitters. That would be AWESOME!

I like following the celebrities I respect. For example the mythbusters guys show behind the scenes stuff etc.

What I do is find people I like/respect and see who they are following. That has produced some good stuff for me.

I don't think he does, LOL. There have been fake accounts, but they aren't him. I actually do follow a couple of fans of his who just tweet his quotes every now and then.

You've also got to make sure the people you are following are actually who they are. Some celbs have their assistants doing their twittering and it just turns into a big advertisement. Some people are pretty funny though, Jon Mayer, who I couldn't care less about really, once posted a days worth of twitters with pictures about his trip to In and Out Burger. Spencer Pratt tells people off while his wife praises Jesus. It's like my own personal gong show.

I opened a Twitter account today mainly to get updates on the Kansas City Chiefs training camp on my BB. Don't really have an opinion on it yet. I can see it being one more thing my wife will gripe at me about for staring at my phone.

So some guy in Georgia said that he was the one that caused the attack on twitter yesterday. He was talking about some military work being built up for another something or other (obviously I'm very well versed in world affairs).

http://www.cnn.com/2009/TECH/08/07/r...ack/index.html

I guess his name came up in the attacks somehow, and he's come forward admitting it. For me, it just seems strange. A politically charged attack on a social media site? I know people want other people involved in their things, but not sure how many 17 year olds know shat about what's happening in Georgia (considering I for one am in my 30's and don't know a ton). The gossip was about the fact that twitter went down, not that Georgia was going to go all hairy again. If that is what caused it, I think they may have missed the point??

I'm also curious that this is actually what caused it, and not something more socially valid to these people, like another 17 year old hacker.

Apparently Twitter is going classical, as in an opera. They will debut a libretto at the Royal Opera House in London, England, I believe sometime in September.

And at this point in time, there is no ending to the opera, the ending will be determined by those whose twitter submissions are accepted. They are still accepting laymen submissions on the Royal Opera House's Twitter feed.

So for those who twitter, this is your chance to participate in an opera.

http://www.cbc.ca/arts/music/story/2009/08/11/twitter-opera-britain.html

I read the comments at the end of the link and I found this one quite amusing and funny.....

"For consisency (and mercy's sake) they should limit the score to 140 notes."

EDIT: More info here.

How much did you stalk her? Cause I can't get to her channel anymore. Way to scare her off.

It appears you may have an imposter.
