This generation really need some movies like the John Hughes movies...This is terrible. What happened to his directing career? After all those wonderful John Hughes movies, he stopped directing in 1991.
Too bad. I watched "Weird Science" on an airplane just last weekend. There were some funny moments, especially when Chet got transformed into that bubbling blob of crap. Nothing too cerebral though...

Amazing the guy really went downhill after the 80s. Was he so desperate for work he had to do all of the Behoven sequels?
I don't think he was actually involved in all the sequels, but because the characters he created were in the sequels, he got credit (which is why the credits say "characters" rather than "written by").

Regardless of some of the movies he was involved in that I did not like, this list alone is enough to say he was one of the very, very best. Absolutely LOVE every movie I have listed below. Classics through and through:
Home Alone (1990)
Christmas Vacation (1989)
Uncle Buck (1989)
Planes, Trains & Automobiles (1987)
Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)
Pretty in Pink (1986)
The Breakfast Club (1985)
RIP John...
