DD-WRT Exploit Warning
For users of DD-WRT, please visit the following page. It's possible that someone external to your network can gain control of your router. Either download the new firmware or add the firewall command.

I tried DD-WRT.
I prefer Tomato firmware.

I like DDWRT. Never really tried Tomato.
Either way, seems like this exploit was there fault from the get-go. On their forums someone pointed out exactly how the problem was created. Seems like the guys who created the builds screwed up.
But, its fixed now with the newer updates.

I tried Tomato last night... I felt it was not even in the same league as DD-WRT. I couldn't even get my Wifi to actually transmit. But I did like how it scan the area to see what's already transmitting on each channel.

Interesting. I likes it because it was the first firmware that I was able to get QoS working nicely.

I've had issues, usually with WiFi, going between DD-WRT and Tomato which required a factory reset (or whatever involves holding down the reset button for a minute). Twice I've had to use that method to get things back to working order, once on a Tomato->DD-WRT transition, and once on a DD-WRT->Tomato transition. In both cases my WiFi would only work without any encryption at all, but the reset fixed that for whatever reason.

Hmmm, thanks for the heads up Bob. I went directly from DD-WRT to Tomato as well. Maybe I'll try the reset to the linksys firmware, then go to Tomato. In my case, I had my Wifi completely open and unprotected, and transmitting the ID, but nothing would pick it up.

So disable remote web Gui management and you should be OK.
I am on Tomato but normally for home users that option should be turned off. I can only really see it being usefull for a IT contractor who has to admin multiple APs.

I prefer Tomato for the hotspot ability. I admin a couple of them, if there is an issue I go on site and charge them. That way they see me actually doing something and not just remoting from home and sending them a bill.
Customer Service, even in the IT world matters.
