Driving back home this morning, I noticed a TON of tree branches littered around the west side of the city.

I have a small window under the eaves that has a crank to open and close it. When the storm actually hit, I ran to shut it but the hail had been driven in with only the screen to stop it and the window couldn't shut. I had to pop out the screen, clean out the hail, fix the crank (I had reefed on it hard enough the arm jumped out of the tracks - oops) and then work the window to get it to close.

Then I sat back and watched the light show. I'm in the NE and my alarm clock said 2:02am

Wow, that was one hell of a storm last night. I was about to leave my sister's place after picking up my boy. When the wind was blowing we were getting ready to leave then bam!! We live in Panorama and I never saw any houses on fire. My camera bag was in my trunk, I wish I could have gotten to it. Blackberry was dead otherwise I would have recorded it too. We opened the garaged and just watched it rain and hail. It was the strongest storm I had ever experience.

Just spoke to my dad who lives in Huntington Hills and one pine tree that is as tall as the two story house (maybe taller?) snapped at about 15 feet and landed on the roof of the garage.

The other pine tree, a blue spruce that I got in grade 4 for arbour day?, not as tall but still very big, was uprooted and now leaning at about a 15 degree angle.

As sad as I am about the trees, I'm sort of disappointed I missed this storm. We never get anything that lively here in England. It just rains.

Storm? What storm?

Had a nice two hour run this morning . . . . nice and cool and overcast.

I slept through it as well. Heard some hail, turned over and went back to sleep.

Looks like today could be interesting again. This discussion is from 6a.m. so things could have changed. The next discussion is released at 1.

EDIT: Nevermind. I just checked a couple forecasts and it looks like that 6 am discussion was wrong. I'll post the 1 pm one if it is interesting.

A friend of mine in Carstairs had her windshield smashed by baseball-sized hail.

Just surveyed my car and happy no damage. I seriously do not understand how I was able to escape that storm in one piece. What photon said was correct, I was unfortunate enough to be hit by massive sideways hail while driving on stoney trail. I swear, this is the second scariest experience of my life.

I woke up around 2 am to Armageddon and a soaking wet house because I was stupid and left my windows open. I don't think I've ever seen such an intense storm in Calgary and it reminded me of a couple of the tornadoes I've lived through elsewhere. I live in Country Hills by the way.

Hmm my mom and her boyfriend were camping up by Olds where the storm was apparently at it's worst. Have not heard from them yet. Hoping for the best CP!

Well looking at the weather network they have thunderstorms tonight with about 5mm rain. So decently high? Although I wouldn't except the same caliber storm

Pretty sure there won't be any storms today. Probably not for the rest of the week by the looks of it.

I slept through most of it other then maybe 10 mins. Lightning seemed pretty intense. Even with my eyes closed I could see the flashes of light. Thunder didn't seem to bad. I've heard louder ones this year to be honest.

I'm in Erin Woods.

I live in Stonegate in Airdrie, it was bad enough that I grabbed my fiancée and went to the basement, because I was scared of (a) the hail breaking through the windows and (b) the possibility of a tornado with how high the winds were. Thank god I went down there, because 2 mins after we got down there the window started to leak because the window well was full of hail and rain. So at 2 am I was wet vaccing and ripping insulation out from behind the vapour barrier.... brutal!

I was in Stonegate too! First time I've ever been scared during a storm, haha. It was pretty intense.
