Weird question. But I know you nerds - er - brains would probably know. Can a tornado hit in the night? You always hear about them in the day time, early evenings, but never in the middle of the night. I also thought they couldn't hit a big core downtown city centre, but I was wrong. Just curious really.

Big time rain, hail, wind and lightning right now in the nw. Kind of nuts actually.

Same here, in the NW. This thing just came in outta nowhere. One second its calm, next there is wind, lightning like I've never seen and rain/hail like unloading.

My lawn is white now, the hail has let up a bit though.

They can hit at any time, but this type of storm usually doesn't spawn them.

Oh. My. God. CRAZINESS! Wind blowing patio furniture like it's paper, raining like mad, lightning up the yin-yang... If I died tonight, know that I did so on CP.

Um, ok, hail has started. Rain is going up?? Looking the street lights, the rain is coming down in sheets, then being sucked back up, CRAZY!

Did I mention I'm in the NW?

And, they can hit at night? That's not cool, or fair. At least give people a change to get to cover, not get sucked FROM their covers!

The sun / night does do something to the weather though, does it not? There's something about the way wind changes when the sun goes down. Something about the heat from the earth rising again? That's as much specific information as I know.

The wind and rain have stopped here in Bearspaw right now after about 10 minutes ... still lots of lighting close by.

Is this the end, or is there more to come?

Oh wow the storm is amazing. Never seen anything like this before. I just had my windows open 10 min ago then all of a sudden it felt like a tornado was approaching.
I'm in NW as well.

I love that at 2 AM CP's resident weather expert is up to answer our questions. How is this not a pay subscription site?
