To the people who are angry about this. Do you use this section of road when they plan to close it? Does this directly affect you?
Angry suburbanites complaining about not being able to drive their SUV's along the river and being forced to take the route down 6th ave.

Also, there isn't any hockey on and most people are bored right now

But it's not being shut down... just reduced to two lanes for a couple hours. And, for a festival that all Calgary residents can attend.

I'm sure people didn't like the Lilac Fest when it was initially suggested, but it's worked out just fine. Same with Salsa Fest.

Those festivals grew naturally - the Lilac fest was a small fraction of its current size. As it grew - so did the closure. It happened naturally based around an actual idea.

This was an alderman wanting to shut down a road (or dramatically reduce it to be picky) for no reason whatsoever.

That's the point - it's a willy nilly closure with nothing behind it. It's another example of how this city runs itself with very poor planning and thought.

Whatever garbage was being held today that has glenmore reduced to one lane, is a piece of garbagy garbage. I was pretty much 30 mins late for an appointment because some loser in tight clothes wants to bike around? Seriously, did Druh plan this one as well?

And I hate bicyclers.
