for "substance abuse policy" aka riod policy.

They haven't and wont release any details as to what it was.

Yesterday he was a shoe-in for the Hall of fame... now I'm not so sure. Hard to be when you are a PROVEN ABUSER.

Nail him to the wall, make an example of him, certainly after his comments in the US Senate hearing.

Wont matter. His stats will get him in regardless, just like Bonds.

Interesting point brought up by a friend I am chatting with online: Does this mean Palmero perjured himself in front of congress?

Did he testify under oath, or was it a more informal hearing?

Well, he just said he had not used steroids in the past, and I don't know how one would prove that he used steroids before the hearing.

Hey you guys. it's not a 10 game suspension. It's only a 10 day suspension!

What a joke. I watched that hearing and everyone was applauding him for his stance against steroids. Of course i totally didn't believe him.

I hope this ends his career. He's old and should have to repay the majority of his salary earned back to the fans.

In all this mess, I hate Bud Selig even more.

He should have the balls to release: What steriod exactly was in his blood, Approx. Amount and how much of X substance he had to digest to get blood levels to that high. Just so we don't have media types bickering back and forth about complete Bull.

Guys like this should be denied the Hall of Fame. You might be talking about more than a decade of substance abuse colouring a lot of his career.

As far as I'm concerned, Roger Maris still holds the home run record. I never got caught up in the steroid induced home run races of a few years ago. They seemed like a joke at the time and look even worse now.

Signed . . . . a bitter Cowperson.

Was Palmerio even a sure thing hall of famer? I would say he was borderline at best. He has some impressive totals but no major awards, no rings, very few all-star games. I'd say this will likely cost him a HOF placing.

He was hands down a HOFer. He had the numbers and anyone regardless who has 3000 hits or 500 home runs gets in. He has both.

I'm not sure. They were having a discussion on ESPN radio today discussing this very point and they felt he was borderline. 3,000 hits yes - but how many can anyone remember? He's perhaps the Bernie Federko of MLB.
